A call to action for caregiving service providers:

Let us know about actionable, emerging resources that Maryland communities can use to advance caregiving resources at the local level.

If your organization provides caregiving programs for older adults and people with disabilities, register with Maryland Access Point.

While protecting client identity, share any data you collect on caregiving for or by older adults to help inform programs and services. ​

Recent LRM Caregiving Developments…

Maryland Department of Labor’s Direct Care Workforce Innovation Program was added as an LRM in Action item. The program will provide nearly $240,000 in matching grants to help employers and workforce organizations recruit, retain, and advance direct care workers.

SOAR Stakeholder Workgroup activities were added as an LRM in Action item. The workgroup met from May to September 2025 to develop final recommendations on the redesign of state-funded pre-Medicaid long-term services and supports.

The Respite Care Ambassador Program was added as an LRM in Action item. The program of dedicated respite professionals will inspire, educate, and raise awareness about respite care in Maryland.

Johns Hopkins Memory Care Family Checklist© was added as an LRM in Action item. The resource will help caregivers of people living with cognitive difficulties identify different types of care needs they may have and offer personalized recommendations and resources to help address those needs.

Grandfamilies and Kinship Support Network was added as a Caregiving Resource. The network provides technical assistance to help government agencies, nonprofits, and kinship navigator programs work holistically together to better support grandparents, relatives, and close family friends with the children they raise.

LRM Caregiving Information and Resources

The following caregiving objectives are part of LRM's Epic Goal of Promoting Economic Opportunity. It involves securing the roles of caregivers to lead to a better quality of life for all Marylanders as we age.

  • Objective 1: Strengthen Maryland’s ongoing commitment to family caregivers.
  • Objective 2: Improve the quality of direct care careers.
