Dear Early Childhood Partners,

We have exciting news! Alicia Leatherman has joined our team as the new Administrator for Early Childhood Home Visiting, Maternal and Child Health, and Infant Vitality in the Division of Maternal, Child, and Family Health at the Ohio Department of Health.

Prior to coming to ODH, Alicia served as the Director of Strategic Initiatives for CelebrateOne in the Office of Mayor Andrew Ginther in Columbus, Ohio. Alicia oversaw CelebrateOne’s infant safe sleep efforts, the coordination and expansion of home visiting services, and the deployment of Community Health Workers to ensure that residents, especially pregnant and parenting moms, were connected to clinical and social support services. Before joining CelebrateOne, Alicia served as Director of Infant Wellness at Nationwide Children’s Hospital where she directed the work of the Ohio Better Birth Outcomes Collaborative.

Before working at the local level, Alicia served as the state Child Care Administrator at the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and the Director of the Early Childhood Cabinet, an effort to coordinate policy and funding priorities for services for children (prenatal) birth to age five, across six state departments.

Alicia also served as the Executive Director for the Ohio Child Care Resource & Referral Association and oversaw, in partnership with state agencies, the creation and implementation of Step Up to Quality, the Ohio Professional Development Registry, and T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood Ohio.

Alicia is a native of Cincinnati but has called Columbus home for almost 20 years. She is a graduate of the University of Dayton and resides in Blacklick with her husband and two children, Caroline and Jake.

Please join us in welcoming Alicia to our team, and we look forward to our continued work with all of you to help better the lives of Ohio’s families.

Sincerely,
Ohio Help Me Grow
