We wish all of you a Happy New Year filled with fabulous adventures. We are extremely excited about the prospects for the travel industry in general and the opportunities many vendors are presenting to us. In fact, there are so many opportunities, we can only touch on a few.
For example, Globus has launched a series of American-based itineraries for those wishing to explore hidden treasures and storied experiences in some tucked-away towns, lesser-known nooks, and secluded seafronts of North America. These itineraries include Enchanted New Mexico, Quebec in Depth, the Lost Canyons of the Southwest, Alaska and the Yukon, and Exploring the Northwest. We can provide more information about any of these itineraries; just give us a call.
Globus is also offering a $1000 credit per couple on select 2024 Globus Choice Tours. These must be booked by January 31, 2024.
In another example, Seabourn is offering savings of up to 25% on its Ocean and Expedition voyages along with a reduced 15% deposit. While this offer will be available through February 20, 2024, guests who book by January 31, 2024, will enrich their experiences even more with up to a $1000 shipboard credit. Seabourn is but one of many cruise lines offering special promotions during the Wave Season.
Speaking of cruises, we invite you to look at the just-announced British Isles cruise departing Southampton on May 3, 2024. This 12-night, round-trip adventure will take you from England to Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and France before returning to Southampton. Have you heard about the merger between Hawaiian Airlines and Alaska Airlines? The merger was announced by Peter Ingram, President and CEO of Hawaiian Airlines, who expects the merger to be completed in 12-18 months.
Finally, Airport security may look more like a self-checkout counter next year thanks to a new technology the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is testing. The TSA is setting up a self-service screening prototype at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas next year, with construction on the security lane expected to be completed by late January. The self-service lane is expected to be operational for TSA PreCheck travelers sometime in March. The prototype includes a video monitor with multi-step instructions and a screening portal with automated entry and exit doors, according to the Department of Homeland Security. Will we finally be able to get to our flights any quicker?
