Greetings! Welcome to the Powell River Hospice Society's Newsletter! We hope to provide quarterly updates to our members, volunteers and community partners. We are thrilled to report on our many Fall events and programs.

Charity Status Granted! After months of hard work and much paperwork, we have been granted Charitable Status! The Society is now working to provide income tax deduction receipts for 2017 donors. We thank all of our donors for supporting community hospice care. Donate

100+ Women Who Care "100+ Women Who Care is based on the concept of bringing together 100+ women who commit to meet four times a year, contribute $50 at each meeting, and make a large impact on local charity." After sharing stories of the positive impact of hospice care for those who are dying and for their loved ones, the PR Hospice Society was chosen as the recipient of the quarterly donations of the 100+ Women Who Care .  We are grateful for the support of local charities by these amazing women!

On October 3rd, the Victoria-based Target Theatre performed two shows of I'm Still Here: A Research-Based Drama on Living with Dementia. We received very positive feedback as to the realistic and moving portrayal of those living with dementia and their loved ones. The Burger & Beer Fundraiser held September 30th was a huge success, raising almost $3000 for the Hospice Society. Auction packages, including a two-night stay on Savary Island, were popular items. The live music kept the night swinging and the food was delicious.Thank you to everyone who helped make the night a success!

Grief Educational and Support Groups We are hosting grief groups this fall in Powell River, on Texada Island, and with the Tla'amin community.

SAVE THE DATE! Our Annual General Meeting is November 15th at 7 p.m. at Willingdon Creek Village. We will be sharing the results of our recent Strategic Planning, our yearly financial reports and electing new Board members. Please join us! Refreshments provided.
