Welcome to the Spring 2021 Semester!

Thank you for joining us this semester despite all the challenges we continue to face with the COVID-19 pandemic. The past year has not been an easy one, but your commitment to your education is inspiring and impressive.

Remember, classes start February 1, 2021, with more 8-week classes starting April 5, 2021. We at Grossmont College are excited to have you join us and we are committed to your success. I hope you will take advantage of the many resources and tools we have available - don't forget to save this email in case you need to refer to it later this semester.

Also, if you're enrolled in any on-campus labs this semester, please be sure to review the below for information about symptom monitoring and what to do if you are diagnosed with COVID-19.

For some of you, the spring semester will be the completion of your journey at Grossmont College before you start your new career, get that promotion, or transfer to a four-year university. We are so excited for you and we know - and hopefully you do, too - that YOU'VE GOT THIS!

Best of luck this semester and remember that we are here for you at Grossmont College.

Best wishes,

Dr. Marsha Gable
Interim President
Grossmont College

Virtual Help Center
Did you know we have a Virtual Help Center that can direct you to the best people to help you with registration and enrollment, financial aid and scholarships, and technology issues?

Drop into a Zoom room, call or email the appropriate help desk to get the help you need. Our Virtual Help Center website has all the links, phone numbers, and schedules to connect you with the right people, at the right time.

Additionally, our Virtual Campus website can help you connect to other student support services, community resources, and more.

Textbook Ordering and Delivery Options
Textbooks for Spring 2021 can be ordered online.

When ordering books, you have two delivery options:
  1. Shipping - all costs are waived for orders over $75 and a flat rate of $6.99 for orders under $75.
  2. Curbside Pickup - if this option is selected, you will receive an email with pickup instructions to use the Barnes & Noble Mobile App, which has an interface for curbside pickup. In the app, you will select "I'm outside the store" when you arrive on campus and a bookstore representative will bring your order to you. You should not leave your car.

Student Email Accounts
Students are issued an email account upon enrollment. To claim your account, follow these steps:
  1. Go to: https://outlook.office365.com
    (
You will be prompted for your username and password.)
  2. Your username is: yourfirstname.yourlastname@students.gcccd.edu (This is the same firstname.lastname configuration as noted in WebAdvisor. If you are uncertain, verify your user name using this information.)
  3. Your password is your college pin (mmddyy)
(If this is your first time logging in, your pin is your birthdate, for example, Jan. 1, 2000 is 010100)
If you need help, contact the Grossmont College Technology Help Desk.

Your account provides you access to resources such as Office 365, outdoor wi-fi access on campus in Lot 4, and online library databases. Additionally, your account remains active as long as you continue to take classes in consecutive semesters (excluding summer). If you skip consecutive semesters, your account will be changed to an alumni account which allows for basic functionality and storage. Accounts will not be deleted by GCCCD.

If you choose not to use your GCCCD-issued email account, make sure you have a current account listed in WebAdvisor. The email account listed in WebAdvisor is the official account of record and important messages from the College and District will be sent to this account.

On-Campus Classes and COVID-19
Students enrolled in on-campus classes are expected to monitor for symptoms related to COVID-19; a daily checklist is available on the Health and Wellness website. When coming to campus for class, all students are expected to have their temperature taken upon arrival. Please check with your instructor about in-class temperature checks; otherwise, you will need to have your temperature taken at the Campus and Parking Services (CAPS) office located on the southeast corner of the Parking Structure.

To report a diagnosis, exposure or isolation due to COVID-19, complete the COVID-19 Intake Form. Once submitted, a Grossmont College Health and Wellness nurse will contact you for additional details.

Get Involved
The first week of classes is known as the Week of Welcome and many programs will host virtual events. In addition to the Week of Welcome, Black History Month and Career Technical Education (CTE) Month both take place in February. Check the college's calendar of events for more information about upcoming events.

If you're interested in getting involved in student government and representing the voice of students, consider joining the Associated Students of Grossmont College! Submit an application today - it only takes three minutes.
