PLAYER ASSESSMENTS - APRIL 5TH

The WYBSL conducts two (2) types of assessments:

SKILL ASSESSMENTS - are only conducted for certain leagues:

  • 10U/12U Softball: assessments are used for coaches to draft teams.
  • 10U/12U/14U/18U Baseball: assessments are used for coaches to draft teams.
  • Players who cannot attend their skill assessment are assigned to teams using a “blind draw” or “age and alphabet” assignment or by Staff. Skill assessments are not mandatory, but highly encouraged in order to balance team formation.
  • PLEASE NOTE: if a player was in one of the above leagues LAST SPRING and would like to return to the same team, they do NOT have to attend assessments and will be returned to that team. Under the same circumstances, if a player would like to play on a different team, they should attend assessments.

PLAY-UP ASSESSMENTS - are conducted for players wishing to "play-up" to the next older age league. If a player has registered and requested to play-up, and did not play in the older age league last fall or spring, they must attend a play-up assessment.

Skill AND Play-up Assessments are scheduled for April 5th and the schedule for each league can be found in the Spring Calendar on the website.

Please check the WYBSL Weather Hotline (614-523-6220) for any updates prior to heading to the fields. The hotline will be updated by 7:30AM on Saturday. If necessary, the make-up date will be Sunday, April 6th three (3) hours later than originally scheduled.

WHEN WILL I BE CONTACTED?

If assessments are held on April 5th or 6th, players in 10U/12U Softball AND 10U/12U/14U/18U Baseball will be contacted by your coach by April 13th regarding their first practice.

Coach-Pitch and Tee-Ball players will be contacted by your coach during the week of April 14th regarding practice schedules as well.

CHANGE OF PLANS?

We recognize plans sometime changes. If a player needs to withdraw, the parent must email the league (wybsl@wybsl.org) reporting the player’s name, league, date and reason for withdrawal.

If the withdrawal is reported by April 30, a $25 processing fee will be charged. If reported on/after May 1, there shall be no refund.

Sponsor Feedback

We are fortunate to have many great sponsors supporting us this season and lowering the costs to our families.

Please take 2 minutes and complete the short survey below to help support one of our valued sponsors (this survey will be 1 of 2 we ask you to participate in this season):
