As we step into the 2024-2025 academic year, I am filled with immense pride and excitement, reflecting on the remarkable achievements of our district in the past year and eagerly anticipating the opportunities ahead in this start of the school year. Together, we have demonstrated resilience, innovation, and a steadfast commitment to excellence in education.

Celebrating Our Achievements

I am pleased to share some of our district’s significant achievements:

• STEM Excellence: We hosted over 50 STEM events at various levels, fostering curiosity and innovation among our students.
• Science Fair Success: More than 100 student projects were showcased at the Alamo Regional and RGV Regional Science Fairs, with several advancing to the state level.
• Academic Growth: We increased our Domain Score in the State Accountability Rating, reflecting our commitment to academic excellence.
• Creative and Athletic Excellence: Our dance teams from HSI Laredo and HSS San Antonio excelled in state-level competitions.
• Robotics and Math Competitions: We organized robotics fairs at each of our campuses and three city-wide 5th-grade math competitions. Our drone team also competed at both state and national levels.
• Athletic Achievements: Our athletic teams performed strongly in UIL, Charter League, and other leagues, showcasing the dedication of our students.
• Parental Involvement: We hosted numerous community events, including the Laredo Parent Picnic, which saw over 1,000 parents participate.

Our accomplishments reflect the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, staff, and families. As we begin the new academic year, our focus remains on providing every student with a supportive, challenging, and enriching educational experience.

Immunization Forms Required

State law requires all students to have completed vaccination records on file with the school. At Harmony Public Schools you have 30 calendar days from acceptance of your student’s seat to provide complete documentation of required vaccinations. After this date, your student cannot be on campus until vaccination records have been updated. If you are unsure if your child’s records are up to date, please speak to your campus health staff to have them verify your records. More information can be found here.

Family involvement is shown to improve student academic performance, school attendance, and decrease discipline problems. From home visits to our Parent Academy Program, we invite all parents and guardians to volunteer at their child's campus today! Learn more here.

Reminder: Register for 2024-2025

If your child has been awarded a seat at one of our secondary campuses, please be sure to log in and complete your child’s registration through SchoolMint. You have 10 business days to complete registration from the time you accept your child's seat. If you do not complete the registration within 10 business days, your child will lose their spot, and you will have to re-apply. Tax-Free Weekend is Aug. 9-11

This year's sales tax holiday begins Friday, Aug. 9, and runs through Sunday, Aug. 11. Texas' tax-free weekend offers the opportunity to save money on essential items before the new school year starts.

Retailers also tend to pair the tax savings with other deals. The break includes no sales taxes for items like clothes, school supplies and more. Visit the Texas Comptroller's website for a full list of qualifying items.

Introducing Ms. Stephanie Finch: Our New District Operations Manager

We are excited to welcome Ms. Stephanie Finch as our new District Operations Manager. With nine years of experience at Harmony, she has served as a 3rd grade ELAR teacher, Mentor teacher, District PLC leader, and Assistant Principal. She holds a Master of Education Administration from Lamar University.

Ms. Finch is dedicated to fostering a positive culture and building strong relationships within our community. We look forward to her leadership in enhancing our district's success.

We also extend our gratitude to Ms. Abigail Rodriguez for her exceptional service as District Operations Manager, during which our enrollment grew significantly. We wish her the best in her new role as Assistant Resident Principal at Harmony Science Academy - San Antonio.

Harmony Science Academy-San Antonio Is Ready for an Exciting New School Year

HSA-SA is fully prepared to serve K-12 grades with significant campus upgrades. Enhancements include new classrooms, state-of-the-art AC units, vibrant new paintings, and expanded playgrounds. These improvements reflect a commitment to providing the best possible educational experience for students..

Upcoming events include Orientation Day, Volleyball Tryouts, and Flag Football Tryouts. These events offer opportunities for students and parents to get acquainted with the school, engage in activities, and become part of the vibrant community. 

Exciting Updates at Harmony School of Innovation-San Antonio

Harmony School of Innovation is thrilled to announce several exciting updates for the upcoming school year:

• New HVAC System: The entire campus HVAC system has been replaced with brand new units for improved comfort.
• Renovated PreK Units: Our PreK units have been updated with new flooring and fresh paint.
• Expansion to 9th Grade: We are expanding our educational offerings to include 9th grade this year. Our prestigious high school programs will now be available at HSI San Antonio, with a vision of becoming a full K-12 campus in the near future.
• Middle School to Medical School (M2M) Program: We are excited to introduce the M2M program, starting this school year.

Harmony School of Excellence-San Antonio Welcomes Ms. Naomi Garcia, As the New Early Education Coordinator!

We’re excited to announce that Ms. Naomi Garcia has joined Harmony School of Excellence-San Antonio as our new Early Education Coordinator. With over ten years of experience in early childhood education and a background with SchoolMint and Lakeshore Learning, Ms. Garcia is well-equipped to lead our early learning programs this year.

Exciting Programs Kick off at Harmony School of Science-San Antonio

Additionally, a volleyball camp is being held from July 29th to August 9th, focusing on team building, fitness, and conditioning to help students get ready for upcoming tryouts.

Harmony School of Innovation-Laredo Shines at Harmony Public Schools Leadership Summit

HSI Laredo was recognized in July at Harmony Public School's Leadership Summit. The campus received an award for the Love of Literacy Challenge, highlighting their strong emphasis on Accelerated Reader, Literature Fair, and book studies in 4th and 5th grade. Additionally, HSI Laredo received a second award for Operational Excellence in the Apply Harmony Festival for best exterior design. We are incredibly proud of our scholars, teachers, and staff for their dedication and hard work.
