These days of isolation and uncertainty don’t have to be an obstacle to recovery and happiness. Let's choose to see this moment in time as an invitation to find new ways of connecting and sharing with our community. Because despite the physical distance among us—perhaps even because of it—the need to reach out and support one another is greater than ever. The Hub is Mountainside's recovery resource center focused on Connection, Education, Wellness and Fun.
We’ve gathered the connections, rituals, resources, and recipes that are lifting us up to share with you.
May you be well, find peace, and feel joy.

Recovery is much more than giving up drugs and alcohol. It requires you to understand and address the root of your addiction, change negative behaviors, and work through issues that developed from your substance use. 12 Step can serve as a guideline for your recovery.
During Step into Recovery, we will discuss and share the spiritual principles and themes of each step — tackling a different one every week.

"The Root of Suffering is Attachment" - Buddha
Meditation, at its core, allows us to detach from some of the most pervasive and insidious things in our lives: our own thoughts. Through the practice of meditation, we limit the power our thoughts can hold over us by separating thought from who we are. When creating space between thought and self, we invite more compassion, resilience, and calm into our daily lives.

When searching for meditation music, it's important to ask, “What am I trying to achieve in my meditation?” To ground the body and settle the mind, the sounds of nature are my go-to. These sounds make my body believe that it is in nature and soothes it as if it were outdoors. If I want to use music as the focal point of my meditation and go into periods of "no thought," I choose music with vocals and mantras. When I’m working on a specific intention like self-love building, or clearing negative thinking, I choose music with specific binaural beats and frequencies.
Each Monday, join me for a
virtual meditation session
. This is a great opportunity to practice self-care and let go of the day's stress.

Hi! I’m Paul Masmejean, a Mountainside Recovery Coach based in NYC. I love to cook, but I’m not always motivated to go all in. I don’t follow recipes by the book. I mainly cook from observation and add whatever feels right. I encourage you to be creative, too.
I love this dish because it's easy to make, healthy, AND tasty. It doesn't require many skills, and the only "cooking" you’ll be doing is boiling some eggs. This is a perfect lunch dish that you can make in about 15 minutes.

Today’s unprecedented public health situation has made it imperative that we stay connected socially and stimulated intellectually. What better way to do this than with an old fashioned book club? Join us every two weeks for an exciting discussion where you can share your thoughts and feelings on a designated book. Our first book for discussion will be a work very close to us here at Mountainside, Don Miguel Ruiz’s
The Four Agreements
.
Our first book club meeting will be April 19th. You won't want to miss it.
