New Year Greetings!
Chodesh Tov. Blessings for the new Hebrew month of Kislev beginning on Thursday, November 24th and Friday November 25th.
The energy of Kislev is very different than the previous month of Cheshwan, While Cheshwan is a month known for purification and letting go, Kislev is about transcending what is logical, actualizing dreams and visions and going forward. Kislev is known as the month of miracles.
During the month of Kislev, we become more aware of Divine synchronicity. We are not here on our own, but God's hand is operational in our lives and in the world. In this month, we must stop trying to figure life out, stop trying to explain and justify ourselves so as to control the outcomes in our life. And most importantly, stop looking towards human beings for what only God has the capacity to give to us.
Kislev is a time of deepening faith and trust. Living with faith enables us to not be bound by the reasoning powers and limits of the mind. It is faith, not the mind, that opens us to new possibilities and new dimensions. It is faith that enables us to go forward in ways we could not do previously.
The month of Kislev is about learning to more fully trust in the Source of All Life. Kislev is about reclaiming the dreams of the inner child. Kislev is about taking risks to move forward to live more authentically and embody more of our soul potential. In Kislev, we are better able to access the guidance of our very own soul and live with greater confidence.
As we deepen our faith this month of Kislev, we come to better understand that what is happening in our lives and in the world is for our benefit and growth, even though it may be very challenging, seemingly disagreeable and uncomfortable. Nothing is an accident in life. To believe that everything is happening randomly is to not believe in G*D. This increased awareness of G*D inspires gratitude. Not surprising that the American holiday of Thanksgiving usually takes place in Kislev.
The entire month of Kislev is known as a time for giving thanks for G*D. Lets make an effort this month to practice gratitude on a daily basis. Let not a day go by without saying THANK YOU to G*D, to others and even to yourself for all the unique ways you show up in your life.
As we have learned repeatedly from the study of Duties of the Heart, God surely rewards those who demonstrate trust and faith in God. Trust and faith in G*d is the key to tranquility, blessing and protection. ( please take an opportunity to view videos on Duties of the Heart on my You Tube channel especially the one in the bottom of this email)
When we serve that which is greater than our personal self, God does miracles for and through us. On Chanukkah we commemorate the miracle of the one vial of pure oil lasting for eight days, rather then the expected one day. This miracle would not have happened if not for the miracle of the military defeat of the Syrian and Greek empire by a small band of Jews.
The fixing this month is of sleep. As the nights gets longer and it is colder outside, Kislev is the month when it is very good to allow yourself to sleep even longer than usual. Sleep is an important time of healing and visioning. When we sleep, we are told, our soul ascends to the higher worlds. This is the month to pay attention to our dreams. Your dreams are messages from the soul. They need be logical or rational. If possible, keep a dream notebook. The Torah portions we read this month are about prophetic dreams.
The month of Kislev is shaped by the holiday of Chanukkah at the end of the month. The gentle candlelight of Chanukah coming at the darkest time of the year reminds us that there is light in the midst of darkness. Darkness is simply a cover for a light that we do not yet have the vessels to receive and contain. Whatever challenges we might be confronting, Chanukah reminds us that there is spiritual opportunity for growth, there is light in the midst of darkness.
May we increase our capacity this month to receive ever higher frequencies of Divine Revelation. May Divine light illuminate the darkness within ourselves and throughout the entire world. Chodesh Tov. Amen.
