We are so excited to share that Maya Nyquist has joined the allcove Beach Cities group of service providers to offer mental health services to clients!
Some facts about Maya:
Favorite vacation spot
My favorite vacation spots are anywhere on a lake! Specifically, I love Bass Lake so much! It's near Yosemite and absolutely gorgeous. I've spent many weeks on that lake, and it has a special place in my heart and helps me instantly relax!
Favorite trait about yourself
I would say my favorite trait about myself is that I try to make others feel welcome and seen in any environment I'm in--whether that's in a classroom, at a work event, or in a group of friends, I always try to make sure no one is feeling left on the outside. If they'll have me, I'd love to be a friend to them.
One talent you have that no one would guess
I love photography, specifically photographing people--like couples or families. Taking pics of littles is my absolute favorite. It's totally a "for fun" hobby, but I really enjoy it and, I think (at least I hope!) that the photos turn out pretty well!
What superpower would you have
I would definitely be able to want to transport myself anywhere in an instant. If I could save myself the long plane or car rides to get to new places, that would be the dream. Also, then I could transport to my bed instantly at the end of a long work day :').
What made you want to get into this work
I originally found my way to the mental health field through my passion for working with neurodivergent kiddos--specifically kids with Autism. Later, while I was studying Psychology as an undergraduate, I began my own journey with therapy and my life was changed through the insight I gained and support I had. I realized the power of sitting with someone through hard times and helping them to discover what's already within them--and I love that I get to work with everyday stressors, AND all types of neurodivergence!
What are you most excited about working at allcove Beach Cities
I have loved getting to work with people who are in one of, if not the most, transformative periods of their lives. It's hard to be between 12-25, there is so much constant change! However, there is also so much potential for insight and growth, and getting to experience how much this generation prioritizes that at such a young age is so incredible and inspiring!!
