Del Este Fire
The initial call for the Del Este Fire was at approximately 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, November 13, 2019. The fire location was just inside the La Habra Heights City boundary along the Skyline Drive fire road and off Punta Del Este Drive in Hacienda Heights.
Initially, the fire was thought to be in Hacienda Heights due to the reporting party's location (reported from Punta Del Este). The fire burned 1.5 acres with forward progress stopped at 4:23 p.m. and full containment reached at approximately 8:00 p.m. LHHFD and Los Angeles County Fire provided the following manpower.

7 Engine Companies
1 Truck Company
1 Paramedic Squad
2 Brush Patrols
1 Hazmat Unit
4 Hand Crews
1 Crew Superintendent
1 Water Tender
6 Chief Officers
2 Investigators

An estimated 95 fire personnel were on scene. There was also 3 helicopters and 2 super scoopers assigned to the fire. The helicopters made multiple water drops and the super scooper made 1 water drop. The super scoopers were released after their water drop and the helicopters were released by approximately 4:30 p.m. LHHFD personnel remained on scene into the early morning to ensure that hotspots were extinguished.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time and is still under investigation.

Hacienda Road
Storm Drain
On November 5 - 6, 2019, staff worked to clear a storm drain on Hacienda Road that was buried in 8 - 10 feet of dirt. While the City clears channels along major arterials such as Hacienda Road, the City does not have the legal authority to clean channels on private property nor the resources to maintain all drainage within the street right of way.

This is a friendly reminder that it is the responsibility of property owners to keep drainage facilities in working order. As a courtesy to La Habra Heights residents, sandbags will be available at City Hall and sand will be available at the park during the rainy season. Remember to bring a shovel.
Missing Park Signs
Every year, during the summer, staff sees a rise in graffiti incidents at The Park. Unfortunately, other acts of vandalism have also occurred this year. The newly planted Hass Avocado tree was stolen earlier this year, and this month, the City sign at the entrance to the lower parking lot and the trail entrance sign are now missing. The signs were stolen on November 4, 2019.

If you have information regarding the missing signs, please contact City Hall at (562) 694-6302.
