HOUSING APPLICATION

You can complete your housing application via our Housing Portal. Students can access the Housing Portal at go.wfu.edu/housingportal using their @wfu.edu credentials. Transfer students must complete their housing application by July 1. Please note that the date your application is completed will not impact your assigned community or room type.

DISABILITY-RELATED ACCOMMODATIONS

In support of students with disabilities, the Office of Residence Life and Housing has various housing and dining options on campus that can accommodate the vast majority of disability needs. Students who would like to request a disability-related accommodation should visit our housing and dining accommodations page. Transfer students must submit requests and supporting documentation by July 1.

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT

Wake Forest has a six-semester residency requirement and is committed to providing eight semesters of on-campus housing for residential students in good standing. Students are expected to fulfill the residency requirement consecutively, barring time away from the University (e.g., CES-Continuous Enrollment Status). Students may request an exception to the residency requirement if they meet certain criteria by submitting a written request to Residence Life and Housing at housing@wfu.edu. To learn more about the Residency Requirement, please refer to our Guide to Community Living

Transfer students will receive a housing credit for each Fall or Spring semester completed at full-time status at another institution. You must log into your Housing Portal and upload your transcript(s) on the Residency Requirements page within the Housing process. Please note that we must be able to see how many credit hours you took for each fall or spring semester to evaluate and assign you the appropriate number of housing credits.

HOUSING SELECTION

As an incoming transfer student, you will participate in the second round of housing selection on July 10 at your assigned selection time, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. EST.

Selection times are randomly assigned based on the number of semesters you have lived on campus (housing credits), with those with more housing credits having earlier registration times. Students who do not select as a part of this process will be assigned housing by our office.

Participating in the second round of housing selection means you can select from any open bed across campus. You will likely select in residential communities with hall, semi-suite, or apartment-style housing located on the Quad or North Campus. More details regarding our housing inventory can be found at rlh.wfu.edu/halls

Depending on availability, you will have the opportunity to select a single or double room—with or without a roommate. Students assigned to single rooms are charged the single room rate.

An Availability List will be available via the Housing Portal on July 5, which will show all available units and beds. During selection, you can see who is assigned to any space with an open bed before selecting. You are welcome to look for a roommate ahead of selection but should not plan to create a roommate group larger than two. If you are entering housing selection with a roommate, the group leader will select housing for both students.

We recommend visiting our Housing Selection Hub to learn more about the process and the Find Your Way Home page for resources that can help guide you during it. Finally, a help desk will be available during selection on July 10, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST.

Note: If you are a transfer student-athlete, please be sure to talk with Athletics about whether you will be assigned to block housing or whether you should participate in selection.

In closing, we realize that transitioning to Wake is a big step, and you may have a lot of questions as you prepare for your arrival. We’re here to help you along the way. To assist, we have consolidated information for our transfer students at go.wfu.edu/transferhousing. Take a moment to review the information available, but please do not hesitate to contact us at housing@wfu.edu or 336-758-5185 if you have additional questions.

Enjoy the summer, and we look forward to welcoming you home in the fall!

Best -
