Dear OFC Families,
Welcome to week six of shelter-in-place!

As many of you've recently heard from our Interim ED Sam Ames, it's the opposite of easy. But it is making a difference, in fact it's saving lives. And getting and staying connected continues to be more important now than ever. So we're continuing to move forward – with established and new virtual programming.

We're excited about these new events coming up in the next few weeks: on May 5 , we'll begin a twice-monthly Arts and Crafts Time with our own Ayana Cariaso. On May 6th , Andy Izenson , of NYC's Chosen Family Law Center , talks about navigating complex parenting issues during COVID-19 . And as of May 11th , we're teaming up with Family Equality to bring a Social Justice Education Series , kicking off with a session on Criminal Justice and the LGBTQ+ Community .
Meanwhile OFC staff have had a blast reading our favorite children's books Monday through Thursday mornings (as of next week, at 10am) as well as Tuesday and Thursday afternoons (now at 6pm). Tune in to our Story Times on Facebook and Instagram live .
In addition to these new offerings and our ongoing Story Times, we continue to provide opportunities for folks to get together in a range of "drop-in" online groups that meet in secure Google video and phone conferences. We offer a whole-community, weekly Drop-in Group , a weekly Prospective and Expectant Parent group , a biweekly group for Parents & Caregivers of Teens & Tweens , and a biweekly Queer/Trans Parents of Color group .

Details and links to RSVP to these groups and events are below. Please register to join us! And help us continue to make connections within the SF Bay Area LGBTQ+ community.

Best wishes,
New virtual programming
Arts & Crafts Time with Ayana
When: Tuesday @ 11am ~ May 5, 12 (biweekly thereafter)
What: Live broadcast on OFC's Facebook and Instagram pages

Join us for Arts & Crafts Time with OFC staffer Ayana Cariaso! Ayana is an incredible graphic artist and designer who loves getting kids to think creatively! Twice a month Ayana will lead kids in fun, easy, at-home art projects live, via OFC’s Facebook and Instagram channels. Projects will range from crayon drawings to abstract art to kinesthetic projects – all of which will have a lesson or relation to queer icons, vocabulary, and emotions.
Protecting Parentage and Familial Relationships During COVID-19
When: Wednesday, May 6th, 12-1pm
What: Google Meet phone & video conference

Andy Izenson, of NYC's Chosen Family Law Center , tackles legal-social issues facing queer familes, including multi-parent families, divorce, separation, and more. Andy will offer emotional guidance on visitation in quarantine times, as well as important tips on how to protect your parentage from internal and external factors while courts are closed and delayed. Join us by registering in advance for this FREE informational session.
Criminal Justice and the LGBTQ+ Community
When: Monday, May 11th, 1-2pm
What: Webinar

We're partnering with Family Equality on a Social Justice Education series , beginning with an interactive session looking at Criminal Justice and the LGBTQ+ Community . In this session we're highlighting Beyond These Walls and the work they're doing in prisons in the Pacific Northwest.  COVID-19 is ravaging jails, prisons, and detention centers across the U.S. But did you know that LGBTQ+ people are more likely to be incarcerated than our non-LGBTQ+ counterparts? And more likely to be serving life sentences and held in solitary confinement than others? Join us and learn about America’s criminal justice system and how it uniquely impacts the LGBTQ+ community in this informative, interactive session.
