Thanks for stopping by.
How can we assist you in these troubling times?
And rather than telling you of all the processes, projects, conditions, issues and situations we've assisted people with in the past, it's far easier for you to simply tell us what it is you want done.
We're in our 38th year as a business development cooperative association and our list of "firsts" fills pages.
Chances are excellent we've already "been there and done that."
No brag, just fact.

A Manhattan garment sweatshop is the scene of a horrific, and avoidable, tragedy as crowded conditions and an almost total lack of safety measures lead to the deaths of 146 workers after a fire breaks out. Legislation requiring factory safety standards will follow, as will sweatshop workers unions

As 520 copies of Allen Ginsberg's poem 'Howl' arrive in the US from a London publisher, customs officials seize the books on charges of obscenity. Ginsberg and his publisher, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, will fight those charges and win, the trial a publicity bonanza for 'Howl' and the cause of free speech.

Since 1983!
|
A not-for-profit cooperative association of independent businesses, founded from an economic development research project on the importance of small business development conducted by the Houston Chamber of Commerce in the late 1970's.
With our first Co-Op meeting held March 14, 1983, to date we've worked with 65,640
people, generating 45,028 tips, leads, referrals and items of new business, generating revenues exceeding one billion dollars, founded the Entrepreneurial Development Center - Houston's first and Texas' oldest small business incubator and co-working space, First Houston Small Business Seed Capital Fund - literally the first small business seed capital fund in Houston, the Womens Business Center - first business incubator for women business owners in the country with residency space and the Virtual Business Center - the first remote business incubator in the world - all totally without public funding, grants, gifts, donations or contributions.
Our Entrepreneurial Research Division conclusively demonstrated "entrepreneurship" could be taught in a classroom environment, resulting in colleges and universities, globally,
commencing entrepreneurial courses.
Here are some of the organizations we've worked with.
We grow companies, build careers and advance ideas.
Among our projects for 2020:
We're asking our government to please stop tax-payer
funding of
those Small Business Development Centers across the U.S. which
knowingly compete
with tax-paying businesses.
Should you have a business that has been negatively impacted by SBDC competition let us know.
