A New Chapter for Nature School
Please Welcome Gina Troball, Our New Nature School Director!
We are thrilled to announce Gina Troball as the new Director of Nature School at Camp Albemarle!
As Nature School prepares to enter its 11th year, we celebrate the strong foundation that has been built and look with excitement toward the future. Serving children from preschool through eighth grade, Nature School offers a faith-based, non-public education rooted in outdoor, experiential learning, where God’s creation becomes an extension of the classroom.
Gina brings 30 years of experience in education, with much of her career spent serving children right here in Carteret County at White Oak and Bogue Sound Elementary Schools. During her time at Bogue Sound, she was selected for the Power of K Initiative and later chosen to serve as an NC Demonstration Classroom teacher, helping model best practices in education and leadership for educators across the state.
Beyond Gina’s extensive experience in education, we are especially grateful for the faith and sense of calling she brings to this new role. After retiring in 2023, Gina spent time traveling and, more importantly, praying about where God would lead her next.
In Gina’s own words, “I believe God is my compass, pointing me in the direction that I should be going in order to do His work.” We are so grateful that compass has led her to Nature School at Camp Albemarle.
Gina shares our belief in the tremendous benefits children receive from learning in nature, from cognitive growth and physical health to emotional well-being, all while experiencing firsthand the wonder and handiwork of God.
As she begins this new journey, Gina points to Psalm 139:14:
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
With our 11th year of Nature School just ahead, we look forward with great anticipation to all that God has in store for Gina, our teachers and families, and most importantly, the children entrusted to our care.
