On February 28th, our monthly Café Europa luncheon was attended by several dozen Holocaust Survivors who enjoyed an afternoon of food, connection and the musical stylings of singer and saxophonist, Ilya Gruzdev.
Tuesday's wintry mix did not deter guests from attending this month's gathering especially thanks to our volunteer drivers! For many, Café Europa provides an opportunity to socialize with other survivors over a delicious meal. For one couple, the love songs Mr. Gruzdev sang prompted them to capture the moment, "This is one of my favorite songs, and he's a great singer!"
Special thanks...
JFS' Holocaust Survivor Services Coordinator, Fay Ross, thanked all the JFS volunteers who help make Café Europa a success each month, whether they are setting up, serving food or transporting our survivors. Special thanks were given to the Jewish Federation in the Heart of NJ for their continued support in helping JFS serve Middlesex County's nearly 200 survivors.
Café Europa is a monthly socialization program for Holocaust survivors that offers a community connection, healthy kosher meals, transportation services and entertainment. JFS works hard to care for nearly 200 Holocaust survivors with home health care, medical and dental services, kosher meals and groceries, transportation, rental assistance and more. To support our efforts to ensure our survivors are able to age in place safely and comfortably, please donate online today. Thank you!
