Welcoming the Rev. Marybeth Sanders-Wilson
Dear St. James’ Family,
We are delighted to announce that the Rev. Marybeth Sanders-Wilson has accepted our call as Associate Rector for Family Ministry and Pastoral Care. The Rev. Marybeth will bring her gifts and leadership in faith formation for all ages, and especially with children, youth and young families. She will partner with Fr. Chad and our faithful lay leaders to provide pastoral care to our St. James’ family and surrounding community. Marybeth’s first Sunday with us will be July 9. Please come and join us as we welcome the Rev. Marybeth and her family to St. James’!
Marybeth Sanders-Wilson is a transitional Deacon in the Diocese of Virginia. Last week, she graduated and received her M.Div. from Virginia Theological Seminary (VTS) with a certificate in New Mission Practices. Marybeth is a seasoned lay church professional, a mom, military spouse, musician, citizen scientist, and triathlete. She will come to Leesburg with her spouse, Brad, who is a member of the Air National Guard, their daughter, Larkin (7), and two rescue dogs, Chili and Frank.

Before seminary, Marybeth was the Development Coordinator at the Washington National Cathedral for nearly four years. She began her lay professional work as children’s choir director and paid chorister at Church of the Advent in Spartanburg as a freshman in college. Since then, she has served several parishes as a musician and administrator.
Marybeth grew up in South Carolina. She holds a Bachelors in Music from Converse College and a Masters of Sacred Music from Perkins School of Theology. She and her family have called Northern Virginia home since 2015. Marybeth is sent from the Episcopal Church of St. Clement in Alexandria and served as seminarian at St. David’s Episcopal Church in Washington, DC.
When not reading, writing, or worshiping, Marybeth and her family like to spend their time outdoors hiking, biking, kayaking, running, learning about ecology, or relaxing with neighbors and friends.
