This month, ten new girls from Easton Middle School started their journey through our Economic Development and Empowerment Program. Over the next 16 weeks, the girls will engage in hands-on lessons covering a range of topics, including self-care, bullying, time management, job readiness, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and more.
In addition to utilizing our curriculum, which was developed by Founder and President Keasha Haythe, we partner with local experts to provide specialized lessons for certain topics. For instance, during a recent session on healthy eating and exercise, a representative from Fitness RX spoke to the girls about proper nutrition and demonstrated some helpful exercises.
During the lesson on entrepreneurship, the girls will be challenged to think of a business they might like to open one day. We will task them with making decisions about the nature and structure of their business and creating a mini business plan. For their final project, students will think about what their future might look like. They will examine their educational, recreational, and career paths, then create a vision board and present it to Foundation staff, family, and friends at their program graduation ceremony.
