Welcome Back!
Another exciting academic year gets underway at the Medical Center this week. We welcome back many in our community who are returning to campus as orientation begins for the School of Medicine. We are especially grateful for the valuable contributions of our staff members who are supporting our mission while teleworking. Finally, we welcome Dean Lee Jones, MD, to Georgetown. Dr. Jones takes the helm at the medical school today. Welcome Dean Jones!

News and Announcements
Effective August 2, Main Campus and Medical Center buildings will be open at full capacity to all students, faculty and staff, and will follow the same building access protocols that were in place prior to the pandemic. All University community members, regardless of vaccination status, will need to take an arrival test prior to resuming work or study on campus. Please submit your vaccination documentation as soon as possible through the GU360 mobile app or website (no later than August 9 for faculty and staff). Learn more about submitting your vaccination documentation and arrival testing.
Starting August 15, the UIS Help Desk will operate from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. If the desktop computer at your campus workspace has not been used since March 2020, it has likely not had an operating system upgrade or security patch since that time. When you first turn on your computer when you return to campus, it may take a significant amount of time for such updates to take place. If you need any support during this process, please contact help@georgetown.edu.
All GUMC faculty members are expected to return to campus for the fall semester. If a special circumstance prevents faculty from returning to campus to teach in-person, they may request permission to teach in a fully remote format following consultation with their department chair. To request an exemption from either in-person teaching or returning to campus for the fall semester, please submit this form by August 6. Read more about the fall 2021 exception policy for faculty.
In an effort to improve our ability to respond in an effective and timely way to issues that arise within our campus facilities, the Office of Environmental Health & Safetywwill begin an effort to map and inventory all spaces and equipment on the Medical Center campus on August 3. Please note that when the assessors arrive, you can request that they reschedule for an alternate time during the inspection window according to the assessment schedule.
Help your fellow Hoyas stay safe by reinforcing healthy habits with visual reminders. Download printable and digital signs encouraging mask wearing, handwashing and more.
