Katz Foundation’s Double Impact

A win-win Food grant from The Katz Foundation helps Cambodian small farmers with microloans to increase their crops and vastly improve the economic situation of their families. Their 100% payback is then used to purchase food staples for our free breakfast program in our rural schools. What an effective way to break the cycle of poverty on many levels. Watch the video

TWCCTW visit

Once again, CCDO is proud to welcome a visit from Scott Friedman and his Together We Can Change the World group. They have mainly been funding our Dental Program for our rural school children as well as water wells. Scott Friedman sponsored the latest water well in Honor of Wendy Friedman Elderkin, his sister, who passed away recently. It is a lovely tribute to honor her with a well that will improve the health of the recipient family.

Will you consider following Scott’s example and donating a well in honor of a loved one?

Anti-Trafficking Workshops

CCDO was asked to partner with Ngan Bui, a student at Richmond University, VA, who was working through the Davis Projects for Peace Fellowship on a series of human trafficking workshops to educate the local Cambodian communities in Poipet and Battambang.

“Love without Boundaries” helped spread the word about human trafficking and sexual exploitation. In collaboration with Cause Vision, CCDO had produced a comic book titled “Phea’s Dream” which was yet again used effectively to highlight the problems and prevent human trafficking.

Thanks to Natsuko Utsumi of Cause Vision, who gave permission to reprint the comic book. The booklet was included in Ngan Bui’s prevention care package.

English & Computer Teachers

Giving A Shout Out to our amazing education team. Our dedicated English teachers have their students engaged in conversations from day one. Long gone are the days of hearing kids sing simple songs thinking they were speaking English.

Sombon and Veasna at Tapang Primary School are really creative with their students and the joy shows in every photo. Kim is teaching at Ta Brok Primary school and she was born to be a teacher. We couldn’t be more proud of her for she is one of our own scholarship students that has followed her dream.

Our dedicated computer teachers Kimly and Mariny certainly evoke the best from their students and they are all touch-typing blindfold in both English & Khmer. One of their favorite tasks is to use Draw program to create visual stories. Bravo to the teachers and the students.

Inspirational Meeting

Our Scholarship students had an inspirational meeting in person and on Zoom with our director Dr Leangseng HoyHe encouraged them not only work hard and follow their dreams, but to always be ready to give back to their community and offer a helping hand to others to make their lives a little better.
