Presented by Welcoming Indianapolis , a project of the Immigrant Welcome Center , Welcoming Week is a celebration of our city’s many diverse cultures. Come and join us for lively community events, volunteer opportunities, and other # WelcomingWeek experiences!
Most Welcoming Week events are FREE and open to the public, but please register in advance.

Legal Workshops on TPS, Temporary Guardianship, Notario Fraud & more! Free
Attorneys from Kids Voice of Indiana , Lewis & Kappes and the Indiana Immigration Law Group will provide workshops on the following topics:

Workshop 1) Family Safety Plan, Power of Attorney and Temporary Guardianship
Workshop 2) Temporary Protect Status (TPS), Adjustment of Status and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)
Workshop 3) Notario Fraud

Citizenship Day - Free
The Immigrant Welcome Center, in cooperation with the  American Immigrant Lawyers Association I ndiana Chapter  and the  Neighborhood
Christian Legal Clinic , presents Citizenship Day legal assistance on Saturday, September 15.
Attendees will receive  free legal assistance  to complete form N-400, the required form for US Naturalization.

Intercultural Training for Service Providers
Employees of nonprofits, government agencies, places of worship, and schools work with people of different cultures without the training needed to do so in an appropriate and sensitive manner.
This one-day workshop, offered on September 19 and led by by  Carmen E. DeRusha , a retired Extension Educator for Purdue University, will provide information on intercultural communication and equip participants with community resources that can help newcomer families succeed.
Registration   is $50/person and includes training booklet and lunch. Class size limited to 25.

Distribution Event - Free
Join us for a day of service, distributing donated items such as toiletries, household goods, and school supplies to immigrants and refugees. Free items while supplies last. The YMCA will provide free Y guest passes to first time visitors who attend this event. If interested in the Y pass, please bring ID.
Please note, the actual event is from 10 AM – 12 PM with volunteer shifts from 8:30 AM – 1:30 PM

For America to succeed, we need to attract and retain the brightest minds from all over the world. At this event, local leaders will discuss this year’s theme, “America needs Immigrants: Attracting a Global Workforce.” Food will be provided from various immigrant-owned restaurants.
