Dear Temple Beth El Family,

We are thrilled to announce that we will be welcoming a fourth full-time rabbi to our clergy team.
Elana Rabishaw is a fifth year rabbinic student at Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of Religion in Los Angeles. Currently, Elana is in her second year working as a Rabbinic Intern at Congregation Kol Ami in West Hollywood, CA. Elana has worked at numerous synagogues throughout greater Los Angeles and as a student rabbi in Yakima, Washington. She also spent a summer working as a Chaplain Intern at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Elana spent every summer at URJ camp OSRUI in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin beginning in fifth grade. She loved summers in Wisconsin so much that she attended the University of Wisconsin- Madison (Go Badgers!), where she earned her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Community and Nonprofit Leadership and Modern Hebrew. Elana earned her Master’s of Arts in Hebrew Letters from HUC-JIR in 2019, and a second Master’s in Jewish Education in 2020.
When we asked what interested you in Temple Beth El, Elana said:
"I became excited about Temple Beth El immediately after reading the job description. In fact, when I read that the congregation's essential value was love- and that it was embodied by, ‘championing inclusion and in lowering barriers to access while creating as many portals of entry as possible,’ I was sold because this is the essential value that I want to live by as well. Having the opportunity to work in and become part of a community that aspires to live by the same values was exactly what I was looking for in my first rabbinic match.”
Elana said that when she visited Boca Raton in January, she loved building relationships and friendships with the members of our search team and the Temple staff. “I also loved getting to see the Beck Family campus in action on a Sunday morning! It was a joy to sit in on Tefillah with some of our youngest learners, and to feel the joy and love that permeated through the campus.”

Elana looks forward to celebrating her ordination in May and will begin her work with Temple Beth El on July 1. Elana and her mini poodle, Busby, cannot wait to move to Boca and join the Temple Beth El family!

“I am looking forward to building out opportunities for young adults to feel part of Temple Beth El. I am also looking forward to building relationships with our families and children, beginning with Summer Adventure Camp this summer, and continuing through meeting our teenagers. I will know that I will have truly begun to accomplish my goal of building meaningful relationships when families ask me to officiate their life cycle events.”

We look forward to welcoming Elana to Temple Beth El this summer, and are so excited to have her join our Temple Beth El family.
