Well Equipped For Leaf Removal

We are now clearly in fall, with most trees turning beautiful colors and many leaves falling. Throughout November, we will primarily focus on leaf clean-up, and we are well equipped to be efficient and effective.

To maximize our leaf removal efficiency, we have 50 trailer-mounted leaf vacuums, as shown above, which make quick work of picking up leaves. Our crews use blowers to consolidate leaves into piles or windrows, then vacuum them up. During November, our crews work Saturdays to tackle some sites without the usual crowded parking lots. We adjust our schedule to improve efficiency and minimize our impact on customers' businesses.

One of the biggest changes with the beginning of leaf removal is that we are not at the end of mowing for the season. We are still mowing, but now on a bi-weekly schedule. As the rain sets in, we will work around the weather to avoid lawn damage. We monitor the weather forecast and will refrain from mowing during very rainy stretches. We apologize if some properties appear a little shaggy, but we need to focus on leaf removal and will take advantage of any upcoming dry stretches to complete our final mowings for the year.

To aid in overall site clean-up, we recommend increasing parking lot sweeps during the fall. Combined with our landscape leaf removal efforts, increased sweeping will help keep your site cleaner during this messy time of year. We are also happy to coordinate with your sweeping vendor to ensure cooperation.

During the fall, we will pick up over 50,000 cubic yards of leaves—more than 3,000 truckloads, or enough to cover a football field with 20 feet of leaves. That’s a lot of leaves! Fortunately, everything is recycled and composted into garden mulch for reuse. Some have asked if we handle this ourselves, but we don’t. Instead, we utilize several existing composting businesses in the area, as this is the most cost-effective method, and they are better equipped for this as their core business.
