2026

August is Wellness Awareness Month!

Three years ago, Michelle discovered that she had a congenital heart deformity. Doctors were shocked and impressed by her level of fitness given her undiagnosed condition up until that point. She knew that her consistent use of The League's Wellness Center and therapeutic swimming pool was a major contributor to her sense of wellbeing and overall health.

Now that Michelle is 68 and has successfully undergone open heart surgery, she knows that she is right where she belongs - where she has been since 2005 - in the water!

For Michelle, The Wellness Center is more than a gym and a pool; it is a family that embraces and uplifts its members.

A NOTE FROM DAVID'S DESK

Together, we are able to remain happy and healthy.

Dear Friend of The League,

Keeping the summer vibes and high energy, The League has been up and outdoors! Camp Greentop hosted an Open House on July 25th, welcoming all who wished to attend, hosting activities like tie-dye stations, arts & crafts, and plenty of food and games for all to enjoy!

More recently, 70 League participants and staff members visited the Baltimore Ravens’ Training Camp! There, both staff and participants alike got to meet their favorite players, receive autographs, memorabilia, and watch them train. Plenty of smiles were had that day, and may there be many more to come with the approaching season!

Though the summer may be coming to a close, the need to be of service doesn’t end. Volunteers will attend the Back to School Drive to help prepare the children in Youth Autism Services for the upcoming school year, supporting their path to success by ensuring readiness through well-organized supplies. Many thanks to our volunteers and those who donated supplies; together, we are truly able, and you all helped make this possible! Thank you for empowering us to live happy, healthy lives!

Families from all over Maryland spent the afternoon enjoying the historic and accessible grounds from 1937.

Thanks to Drew Meyer, youth and adults of all abilities got to connect with their athletic heroes on the practice field.

Volunteers packed more than 50 backpacks for the children with autism starting school this week.
