WellFirst Health name is changing to Medica

The WellFirst Health name is changing to Medica. As we have announced, through an agreement in 2021, WellFirst Health and Medica became partners. As we continue to align best practices and pursue shared tools and technology, this partnership under a shared brand will allow us to unify product offerings and streamline resources.

This is a name change only and will not alter our relationship with contracted providers. You can continue to see WellFirst Health patients and use our provider resources as you do today.

What this name change means for you:

Provider contracts and networks remain the same.
Payer ID remains the same.
Claim and prior authorization submissions remain the same in 2023.
The provider portal remains the same in 2023.
Member enrollment, benefit plan coverage, and the member portal will remain the same in 2023.
Members will continue to use their WellFirst Health member ID card in 2023.

Provider resources and systems will be updated with the Medica logo throughout 2023, including rebranding the current WellFirst Health Provider Portal and WellFirst Health websites. You will still be able to access WellFirst Health platforms as you do today, with links updated to include medica.com. Future communications from us will be branded as Medica.

Your relationship with our members is our top priority. We’re notifying current WellFirst Health members to assure them that there is no change to their health care coverage, and that they can continue to see their current providers.

Medica is also the new health plan name for SSM Health employees in Missouri, Illinois, and Oklahoma. This does not change our relationship with SSM Health providers and hospitals as valued integrated delivery partners.

Medica Medicare Advantage, ACA/Individual and Family, and employee Administrative Services Only (ASO) products will be available during annual and open enrollment this year to replace WellFirst Health product offerings for plan year 2024. SSM Health employees and their dependents, current WellFirst Health members, and new members who enroll in these Medica products will be your patients in 2024. (The Balance by Medica product will not be covered under your provider network.)
