Mindful Language can change the way we associate mental illnesses with negative connotations.
The Wellbeing Partners discuss Stigmatizing language:
Stigmatizing Language: The weather isn’t bipolar. People’s body shape doesn’t make them anorexic. Attention to detail isn’t OCD. Mental health conditions are real, but stigmatizing language can diminish what they really mean and make it harder for someone who’s struggling to get help. Reduce stigma by being aware of your language. @whatmakesusmw.
Outdoor physical activities to try:
Nebraska state parks have much to offer even in the winter. Nebraska’s Ponca State Park provides more than 20 miles of groomed cross-country skiing trails for skiers of all skill levels looking to get out and experience the beautiful scenery.
In Iowa be sure to check out more sledding options at Sleepy hollow Sports Park. They have snow tubing and two different sledding experiences based on thrill level. They even offer lit sledding and tubing after dark.
Head on over to our website to check out the newsletter from Omaha Parks and Rec (under the Wellbeing Partners tab)! Remember, parks are open year round, and as long as you dress the right part, can be a fun activity for your family.
