Welcome to the Wellness Corner!

Dear Friends,

Welcome to the December 2021 issue of The Wellness Corner – the e-newsletter for our community of advocates and enthusiasts - from Big Bend Cares and Care Point Health & Wellness Center. I am excited to share with you details on Holiday Angels, COVID-19 Vaccines, Year End Gift Giving, our Client Holiday Dinner and Naming Opportunities.

But first as the year draws to a close, I want to wish each of you “Happy Holidays!” And thank you for your compassion and generosity towards Big Bend Cares and Care Point Health & Wellness Center. Your support helps us provide health care services, food and so much more to those in need and for this, we are truly grateful.

On behalf of the entire Board of Directors, I wish you and your family joy and good cheer during the holidays and throughout the New Year!

Holiday Angels 2021

We are so pleased and grateful to announce that all 333 children – the largest number ever registered – from 97 families were sponsored by YOU for this year’s 18th Annual Holiday Angels’ program. The generosity that you have shown these children is amazing and Christmas will be much brighter for each of them!

“Thank you” to each of you for helping ensure that a local child smiles on Christmas morning! And a special “Thank You!” to Centennial Bank of Tallahassee, Sunrise Rotary, Simply Healthcare/Clear Health Alliance, Greg Tish and Real Talk 93.3, Cumulus Media Tallahassee and Brett Wellman & The Stone Cold Blues Band for your support of Holiday Angels.

COVID - 19 Vaccines

The COVID-19 vaccine is an important tool to help protect everybody. The CDC recommends that everyone ages 5 and older get a COVID vaccine to help protect against the virus. Do you need a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd COVID vaccine? Care Point Health & Wellness Center has all three vaccines available. Call us today at (850) 354 - 8765 to schedule an appointment for you, your child or anyone else who might be ready!

Year End Gift Giving

While the holiday season is a busy time for friends and family, it is also a time to consider charitable giving plans before the end of the year. Making a year-end gift to Big Bend Cares can create a significant positive impact to our community that also offers personal tax benefits.

All contributions to Big Bend Cares are tax-deductible. For 2021, individuals can deduct up to $300 in charitable donations even if you take the standard deduction and the maximum deduction is now $600 for married individuals filing joint returns.

Rather Give Monthly?

Join our GEM (Givers Every Month) Club and know that you are making a difference in the lives of others. Just $15 a month can provide a food bag to a client facing food insecurity, while $25 a month provides a lifesaving medical test for someone who is uninsured.

100% of all Year-End and GEM Club donations go towards providing health care services and food

to those we serve.

“Fighting food insecurity and providing health care access for everyone is so important to our community. That’s why I’m proud to be a GEM Club member!

Please join me in helping to improve lives of those in need.”

Client Holiday Dinner

A very special “Thank You” to Trinity United Methodist Church for hosting our 2021 Client Holiday Dinner.

Staff, volunteers, and Board members served a delicious meal of ham, turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, mac-n-cheese, green beans, rolls and dessert! There was plenty for everyone and for take-home boxes as well. All the clients in attendance really enjoyed themselves for this annual event which was postponed in 2020 due to the pandemic.

We also want to say “Thank You!” to Tallahassee Nurseries who donated beautiful poinsettias for each of the tables.

Naming Opportunities

A Naming Gift for Care Point Health & Wellness Center is an opportunity to honor or pay tribute to a family member or friend while also helping us continue to provide available, affordable, and accessible comprehensive health care

services to those in need.

Naming gifts are investments in the future of our community and can be made through a one-time donation or through a gift that is pledged over 2 years. Prominent spaces that are available for naming include the Nurses Station, Dental Care Suite, and Exam Room #2. For more information on Naming Opportunities,

please email Stephanie Schwartz here.

We hope you enjoyed the December issue of The Wellness Corner. If you have questions or want more information about any of the topics covered, please email Stephanie Schwartz, Chief Development Officer, here or contact her at 850-656-2437 extension 109. Thank you.
