COVID-19 Information
Health Reminders

  • Help Stop the Spread – Flatten the Curve:
  • Mississippi is predicted to reach its peak infectivity mid-April to early May, and each individual must follow CDC prevention guidelines to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
  • Even if you are otherwise healthy, you should continue to practice social distancing and avoid non-essential movements. This includes:
  • Avoiding gatherings of more than 10 people; and
  • Keeping 6 feet of space between you and others whenever possible.
  • Regardless of where you are, follow all applicable local and state public health guidelines.
  • If You Experience Symptoms:
  • If you experience COVID-19 symptoms (fever of 100.4F or higher, cough, or difficulty breathing), self-isolate immediately, and call ahead to Student Health Services at Moffitt Health Center or your primary care physician.
  • Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure.
  • You should stay home except for medical care.
  • Routine Health Needs
  • Student Health Services at Moffitt Health Center has posted additional updates regarding hours of operation, telemedicine and pharmacy pick-up options.

Campus Action Referral & Evaluation System
(CARES)

USM CARES is a team of campus professionals who respond to reports of concern regarding the academic progress and well-being of students.
Campus Recreation

The mission of Southern Miss Campus Recreation is to provide quality and comprehensive programs, services, and facilities that enhance recreation and wellness for the university community while supporting the educational mission of the university through student learning and development.
Collegiate Recovery Community (CRC)

The CRC is a program for students who are in recovery from addictive disorders. It is designed to assist students with any struggles they may have in maintaining sobriety while being a successful college student. 
Eagle Check-Up

Eagle Check-Up is an indicated, harm reduction prevention program focused on students who use alcohol and/or marijuana.


Community Counseling & Assessment Clinic (CCAC)

The CCAC provides a full range of affordable, evidence-based counseling and psychological assessment services. 
Psychology Clinic

The USM Psychology Clinic offers a full range of outpatient psychology services for children, adolescents, and adults.

Office for Disability Accommodations (ODA)

ODA works with eligible registered students on an individual basis to provide classroom and housing accommodations that are specific to their disability. 
Prism LGBTQ+ Resource Office

The Prism LGBTQ+ Resource Office's mission is to create an affirming and supportive campus environment for students of all gender and sexual identities, and to provide academic, campus, and community resources for students, faculty, and staff.
The Eagle's Nest

The Eagle's Nest Food Pantry provides on-campus resources for Southern Miss students and staff who are temporarily experiencing challenges accessing basic necessities, including food.
Student Counseling Services

Student Counseling Services provide quality services to Southern Miss students by promoting sound mental health and the coping skills necessary for successful pursuit of their educational and life goals.

Student Health Services at Moffitt Health Center

Student Health Services provides medical care for the university community, including preventative care and treatment for illnesses and common mental health challenges, such as stress, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and alcohol or drug problems.
The Office of Health Promotion at Moffitt Health Center

The mission of the Office of Health Promotion is promoting the mental and physical health of students through services that teach prevention and awareness of health concerns and empower students to make healthy lifestyle choices.
Title IX Office

The Title IX Office investigates and responds to reports of harassment or discrimination based on sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, or pregnancy and parenting status. They are also able to provide information about available resources and support services relating to sex discrimination, including sexual misconduct.
University Clinic for Family Therapy

Provides individual, couple and family therapy to USM faculty, staff, students and to the community. They focus on communication and relationship issues, life transition concerns, anxiety, stress management and other general challenges that persons in relationships face.
F.L.I.G.H.T. Program

The Office of Undergraduate Scholarships has developed a campus-wide financial literacy program titled F.L.I.G.H.T (financial literacy insight, growth, help and teachings) to bring financial literacy awareness to prospective and current students. Within our office resources are available to assist you in creating your own unique financial plan in conjunction with your academic plan.
Cash Course

Cash Course is a free online financial education resource designed specifically for college students. The program takes a whole-life approach to personal finance, with resources divided into lessons on earning, saving & investing, protecting resources, spending, borrowing, and paying for education. All you have to do is create your free-online account with your USM email address to get started.
