Approximately 60% of the adult human body is comprised of water. Our cells, tissues and organs need water to work properly. For example, our body uses water to maintain its temperature, remove waste and lubricate our joints. If you struggle with consuming enough water throughout the day, below are some tips to help you stay hydrated:
- Carry a reusable water bottle (BPA free) everywhere you go. You are more likely to drink water if it is with/close to you.
- Make a habit of drinking a glass of water every morning when you get up, before each meal and snacks. This can also support weight management as sometimes we feel hungry but we are actually dehydrated.
- Find an app for your smartphone that can help you track your water intake and remind you to drink water.
- Add more fruits and vegetables into your diet such as cantaloupe, strawberries, spinach, watermelon, peaches, bell peppers and cucumbers as these have a high water percentage.
- Add a slice of lemon, lime, strawberries or other fruits to your water to give it a natural flavor.
