WELLNESS TIP OF THE WEEK
Bike Safety: Tips to Avoid Common Injuries
Warmer weather means more outdoor activities such as cycling. Cycling is a great way to stay fit, it is fun but accidents can happen. Below are 5 tips to help you stay safe during your next ride:

  1. Wear a properly fitted and secure helmet. The helmet must fit level and square on your head, be snug and not slide when you move your head.
  2. Use reflective stripes on clothing and on the bike, and use flickering lights (even during daylight hours) to make yourself more visible to motorists.
  3. Keep away from busy streets and parking lots, and know/obey traffic rules when cycling on the road (for example ride with traffic, not against it).
  4. Bike with a buddy. Not only are two cyclists more visible but also if anything happens to one, the other can facilitate the emergency response if needed.
  5. Carry a patch kit. Knowing how to patch up a flat tire can prevent you from being stranded in an unsafe or remote location.
