Tips to Ease a Sinus Infection
Sinus infections often follow a cold and cause pain and pressure in your head and face. While most sinus infections could be treated with self-care measures, it is recommended that you see a medical practitioner if the symptoms are severe, prolonged or repeated. Below are five tips to help you reduce stuffiness in your sinuses:

  1. Drink plenty of fluids to thin the mucus.
  2. Apply a hot, damp towel on your face for 5 to 10 minutes at a time, several times a day to help soothe sinus pain and to help clear the nasal passages.
  3. Expose your sinuses to warm, moist air (for example from a steamy shower, a hot bath, or by leaning over a bow/sink filled with hot water).
  4. Use saline nose drops and sprays to keep the nasal passages moist and use saline nasal washes to help keep the nasal passages open and wash out mucus and bacteria.
  5. Use a humidifier at night to help relieve nighttime nasal blockages.
