Our goal is to work with you in BEING THE CHURCH when it comes to Mental Health and Mental Illness. You can email us about conducting Celebrations of Mental Health in your congregation and/or we can come lead an introductory event with your church. First Presbyterian Church of Fernandina Beach did just that last week! Thank you for your participation!

Fun Fact
:
Mental Health America identified May as Mental Health Month
because it was in May that Dr. Peniel ordered the removal of the chains that bound the patients of Bedlam, the “mental hospital” in Paris.
Some of you may recognize the name Peniel. Yes, it’s from the Bible ... a great Bible story ... a great person of faith.
Take some time to look it up and think about it. Imagine ... people with mental illness were literally put in chains.
Mental Health America (MHA), is a not-for-profit organization started in Connecticut, by Clifford Beers, a former patient in a “mental hospital” and a founding organizer for what became the Mental Hygiene Movement in America in the early 1990’s.
