I’m imagining myself on a journey with you to increase our Health, Mental Health, and Wellness using this Wellness Wednesday newsletter.
The newsletters will include hints, tips, information, and other resources for you to have a “DIY” Mentally Healthy Day and by extension . . . a Mentally Healthy Week and a Mentally Healthy Month.
Imagine the way people come together one day each week as a community of faith for worship and renew; so that we then can practice faith every day of the week with our faith informing our actions.
Wellness Wednesday uses this same model: pausing for a weekly call to renewal, sharing information and nurturing faithfulness to allow ourselves to take care of our Health, Mental Health, and Wellness each week on Wednesday.
If you watched the
Be4Stage4 video you learned that 1 in 5 of us throughout our lives will experience mental illness. That means, people with mental illnesses are all around us. To put this data into reality, on Sunday mornings, I think of it as one person in each pew.
Take a moment to imagine the people whom God gathers in your sanctuary. I’ve learned, in my thirty years of practice, that this general data is pretty accurate. Just like there are folks in the pews with coronary artery disease, those recovering from cancer surgery, and those of us with presbyopia, we are all God’s children, we are all doing the best we can.
Sometimes our challenges are known to each other, sometimes not. Regardless of our knowledge, we are called to BE THE CHURCH. We are all, as the children of God, called to practice the commandment of Jesus, Love God and Love your neighbor as yourself. (Matt 22, Mark 12) Let’s Just Do It! Let Comfort My People be a success. Let Wellness Wednesday help.
