Training for staff working in supportive housing programs to deliver

The Rutgers University School of Health Related Professions (SHRP) Department of Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Counseling Professions, in collaboration with New Jersey Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) and Collaborative Support Programs of New Jersey (CSPNJ) is offering an exciting training designed to teach staff working in supportive housing programs to deliver wellness coaching services
  
Overview 
This training includes 43 hours of classroom instruction, 27 hours online learning, and 20 hours of Wellness Coaching practice. Students will have the opportunity to practice and refine wellness coaching skills through the support of mentors. Training is currently scheduled to take place from September 6 through December 20, 2013.

 

This training is provided at no cost to the trainee or employer. It is funded by the New Jersey Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services.

Eligibility Criteria 

In order to qualify for this program, the applicant must:

 

1. Have earned at least a High School diploma or GED
 

2. Be currently employed in a supportive/supported housing setting that is open to allowing the student to implement practice assignments and wellness related activities
 

3. Have an employer or worksite agency willing to commit to:

a. Ensuring that the person's work schedule accommodates the trainings and training-related activities.

b. Supporting and supervising the wellness coaching student to incorporate new skills and knowledge gained from training into their work setting.

c. Allow the wellness coaching student to develop and implement health promotion activities within the agency.
 

4. Have access to the internet, and to email.
 

5. Commit to improving the health and wellness of people served.
 

6. Be able to incorporate the role of wellness coach into their current work.
 

7. Complete wellness coaching practice assignments.

 

 

Application Process

 

Eligible candidates should complete and submit all application materials by August 8 2013

 

Note that the application package must include a letter from the applicant's current supervisor indicating the supervisor/manager/leader's support of the applicant for this program, and agreement with eligibility criteria.

 

Note that the application process is competitive, and only a limited number of candidates will be accepted. Candidates will be contacted for an interview. Selected candidates will be informed by August 26, 2013
