Wellnest Announces $8 Million Award for County’s
Behavioral and Mental Health Infrastructure
to help expand the capacity of treatment facilities
that serve young Californians
Dear Wellnest Friend,

We are thrilled to share with you that Wellnest has been selected to receive $8 Million for The Nest on Jefferson Community Wellness Center, its second permanent supportive housing development. In December 2022, Governor Gavin Newson announced $480.5 Million in awards for 54 projects to improve California’s behavioral health infrastructure for children and youth, Wellnest being one of them. As part of the Governor’s Master Plan for Kids’ Mental Health, this historic investment provides grant funding to construct new facilities and expand existing facilities that help children, youth, transition-age youth, and perinatal individuals with a mental health and/or substance use disorder. The awards are delivered through the Department of Health Care Services’ (DHCS) Behavioral Health Continuum Infrastructure Program (BHCIP).

The Nest on Jefferson Community Wellness Center will meet a vital community need for housing and expanded access to behavioral health services, giving Los Angeles County new opportunities to address gaps in care and create sustainable improvements that better serve the behavioral health needs of local communities. The Community Wellness Center will be located on the ground floor of The Nest on Jefferson, which will be a newly constructed, five stories, 55-units, Permanent Supportive Housing project for young men and women, ages 18-25, located on Jefferson Boulevard in the heart of Los Angeles. Additionally, children, youth and families living in the surrounding community will have access to behavioral health services at the Community Wellness Center. The Nest on Jefferson is co-developed by Wellnest and Holos Communities and is scheduled for completion in 2026.

In Community,
Wellnest
