CMS issues final 2019 Payment Notice Rule to increase access to affordable health plans for Americans suffering from high Obamacare premiums
Today, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued the HHS Notice of Benefit and Payment Parameters for 2019.

Palmetto GBA will host a JJ/JM Part B Claims Payment Issues Log (CPIL) webcast on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at 11 am, ET . This 60-minute Webcast is designed to provide an overview of the CPIL available on the Part B Palmetto GBA websites. The live webcast will include a question and answer period for questions related to accessing and using the CPIL.

Current reviews of medical records indicate an increasing number of Inpatient Hospital and Emergency Department services being submitted as split/shared visits between a physician and Non-Physician Practitioner (NPP) from the same group practice. New Medicare Card with New Numbers Coming in 2018
Medicare is removing Social Security Numbers from Medicare cards. New cards with a number unique to each patient will replace the old cards, which will be mailed between April 2018 and April 2019. This change will help protect the patient’s identity.  READ MORE
New Medical Staff Resource
In response to a directive from the House of Delegates (Resolution 012, A-17), the AMA has created a new resource to help medical staffs address disruptive physician behavior. Now available in the AMA Education Center, this free 30-minute learning module shows physicians how to define appropriate, inappropriate, and disruptive behavior, presents guidelines for dealing with these behaviors in a fair manner, and provides users with their own downloadable copy of the AMA Model Medical Staff Code of Conduct that they can integrate into their medical staff bylaws. HIGHMARK Covers New Shingles Vaccine Shingrix Added to 2018 Preventive Benefits Adult Immunization Schedule
As of Jan. 26, 2018, Highmark covers the FDA-approved vaccine, Shingrix, for the prevention of shingles (herpes zoster) and related complications in adults aged 50 or older. Highmark has added the Shingrix vaccine, code 90750 –  Zoster (shingles) vaccine (HZV), recombinant, subunit, adjuvanted, for intramuscular use –  as a preventive benefit for members age 50 and older. Members who received the Zostavax vaccine are eligible for Shingrix as long as it has been two months or more since they received Zostavax. Note: For Medicare Advantage members, Shingrix is covered under their Medicare Part D (prescription drug) benefits.Highmark is reprocessing claims for Shingrix that were denied before our claims processing system was updated.

The Addicted Brain Conference
