TAKES PLACE OFF-SITE AT Washington County Humane Society! Build reading confidence while making a furry friend! Rescue Readers gives kids the chance to practice reading aloud to cats at the humane society in a calm, judgment-free environment. Cats don't interrupt, correct mistakes, or judge—they're simply happy to listen. 

Teen Advisory Board: September 8th | 6:30pm

Ages 12-18 - Want to make a difference at your library? Join the Teen Advisory Board! TAB is a group of teens who help shape the library by sharing ideas, planning fun programs and events, recommending books and materials, and providing feedback on services for teens.

Homeschool Book Club: September 10th | 10:00am



Join us for a fun and interactive Family Book Club as we explore a variety of titles! While you don’t need to read the book to attend, you’ll have the opportunity to engage in activities that tie into the story. We’ll have stations featuring art, STEM, and writing activities that bring the book’s themes to life. It’s a great chance for kids to connect with others, try out hands-on activities, and dive into books! The September book choice is: From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E.L. Konigsburg. If you need a copy, you can get one at the library or request one through the Monarch Catalog. (Book geared for ages 8-12, all ages welcome)

Nature Storytime: September 11th | 10:00am



Meet off-site at Lac Lawrann Conservancy

Please park in the main lot and we’ll gather in the Nature Playground’s open-air pavilion (outdoors). We’ll meet in the Nature Classroom under the Maurin Center in the case of inclement weather. We’ll share some stories and nature activities. Afterward you’re welcome to stick around to play on the Nature Playground, hike, explore the ponds and lakes, or see what else you can discover!

Read with Lenny: Select Saturdays

Registration Required – Sign up for a timeslot to Read with Lenny by calling or stopping in the library

Lenny loves listening to stories and provides a calm, judgment-free reading buddy for young readers. This fun and relaxed program helps build reading confidence while spending time with an adorable four-legged friend.

Jackson Book Club: September 13th | 10:00am

*Registration Required. We are starting a new book club in Jackson! We will meet at Coffeeville Company - Jackson, WI every 2nd Sunday from 10:00 to 11:30. Our first meeting will be Sunday, September 13 starting at 10:00. Books will be available for checkout at the meeting. This club will start with a year of exploring America through thoughtfully selected novels that bring diverse regions and stories to life.

Join former library employee, teacher, and writer Katie for book talks, readings from picture books and chapter books, and plenty of conversation about great stories. Celebrate the start of spooky season and join us for a STEM activity inspired by Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson! After enjoying the story, children will put their engineering skills to the test as they design and build their own broom that can carry as much as possible. Children will plan, create, test, and improve their designs while practicing problem-solving and creativity.

Explore and engage in discussions about significant individuals and entertaining stories related to the history and establishment of the Wisconsin Legislature.
