We read a whole bunch this year, here are our absolute favorites. These recommendations come from library director Cathy, Heidi and Karen at Central, and Alison at West.
An enjoyable, fun and lovable book that follows bandmates in the 70's and there experiences before and after the band. The book tells the story from several different perspectives. It is a fast paced read that will be loved by all!

Cathy will never get enough of the tough and tender Olive, who just might be her most favorite complicated and flawed heroine of all time forever.

Children's Recommendations
This issue's recommendations come courtesy of Ellen and Annamarie at Central and Alison from West.
This is another book set in her indescribably wonderful world in which fireworks, magic, naval battles, unusual children, and weird gadgets abound. She never expected to fall for an author as hard as she fell for J.K. Rowling...but yeah, she did.

Needing a change, Elodee's family moves to a new town where the houses all look exactly alike, there are only three ice cream flavors, and they play only one song in music class.
Everything may be "even" in Eventown, but is there a price to pay for perfection-and pretending?
It was beautiful, sad, but still hopeful!

Excellent graphic novel about a black middle schooler and the microaggressions he faces when he transfers to a fancy prep school.

Heartbreaking and, at times, heartwarming account of a tragic incident on an Oakland city bus. Raises issues of race, class, gender, sexual orientation, family and more.
