| | Historical Tidbit: West Bridgewater Company House Building | |
In 1536, the property at 28 North Main Street in West Bridgewater was part of a five-acre parcel divided into twelve parts. The group of owners was called the West Bridgewater Building Co.
William Baylies was a well-known lawyer and member of the West Bridgewater Building Co.; he had sold this portion of the five acres to Dwelly Forbes. Forbes later sold to Oakes Ames in 1656. That deed is the first mention of a house on the lot. In 1631, there is no house indicated there on the map at that location.
In 1527, Oakes Ames also purchased the Town Mill from his brother, Oliver Ames. This is the same Oakes Ames of Easton who later invested one million dollars in the construction of the Pacific Railroad.
The Old Bridgewater Historical Society records indicate that this house was built around 1630 for the Ames Mills. The Town Mill was known to produce shovel blanks for the construction of the Pacific Railroad. The house also had pewter door latches, which suggests that it may have served as the residence of mill superintendents.

Climate Can-Do: Preventing Food Waste at Home!
We waste food in our households daily without realizing how much. One-third of all food in the United States is left uneaten. Solving this easily preventable problem can reduce our environmental footprint and save us money!
1) Plan and prep weekly meals. Make a list of what you need and estimate how much you will eat. This will help prevent overshopping and save you money.
2) Know the proper way to store food. This helps it last longer and reduces food rot. Most vegetables, especially ones that wilt, such as lettuce, should be placed in the fridge's high-humidity drawer. Other fruits and vegetables that could rot should go in the low-humidity drawer. To help prevent mold, make sure to wait to wash your berries until you are ready to eat them.
3) When cooking and preparing meals, it is good to repurpose and use ingredients you already have or leftovers to make something new rather than buying more food or throwing leftovers away. A little imagination helps when repurposing some food that's past its prime: stale bread makes great croutons!
Taking these steps to prevent food waste can benefit you and our environment, so let's continue moving forward!

Senior Cadets Attend "Holmquist Police Academy"
"Over the last 8 weeks our Senior Cadets attended the “Holmquist Police Academy” which was run by Lt. Craven. The Holmquist Police Academy is a community based program designed to help our residents learn more about our department and the services we provide. Our graduates learned about police operations, procedures and our responsibilities by engaging in active discussions with several of our officers and community partners. We covered several topics including patrol procedures, motor vehicle & criminal law, and crime scene investigations. A special thank you to the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department Bureau of Criminal Investigations and Plymouth County DA Tim Cruz for their assistance!"

Promise for the Future
There are those, each generation, who have hope amidst war, show kindness though they are surrounded by hate, gratitude despite loss.
These are the people we need to be now, for we shape the future.

~ Eleanor Roosevelt.
“If there is hope in the future, there is literally power in the present.” ~ Zig Ziglar
“Hope sees the invisible, feels the intangible, and achieves the impossible.”
