Join us for WCCA's monthly general meeting this Wednesday, March 21st, 7:30am, at 40W Gallery (1560 Teller Street). This month we welcome Ron Seigneur of Seigneur Gustafson for a tax update based on recent legislation and Brian Haitz of Haitz Marketing to speak about the 5 things every business owner should know about organic search.
 
Members and friends are encouraged to attend the meeting to network and  hear the latest news from elected officials, corridor representatives, neighbors, and business owners. Enjoy f ree coffee and breakfast items. Meetings start promptly at 7:30am and wrap up by 9am. 

WCCA meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at 1560 Teller St., Lakewood 80214. The next WCCA meeting will be on April 18th. 
 
40 West Studios and Jovial Concepts Help Get Community Garden Off the Ground
   
40 West Studios has partnered with Jovial Concepts to create two raised garden beds. Studio artists and volunteers will help grow vegetables to enjoy and donate to others in the community. 
 
Jovial Concepts transforms yards into organic gardens and helps to feed 120 Colorado families throughout the growing seasons. Participants learn sustainability, environmental awareness, healthy food practices, and how to combat obesity and other health issues associated with food hardships. Kudos to 40W Studio Artist Mandy Scott for coordinating this community effort. Learn more here.

New Art Installed Along 40 West ArtLine and More on the Way!
 
If you've been to Lamar Station Plaza recently, you may have noticed a new interactive work of public art. Timothy Flood installed "Affirmation Station" on March 2nd. Press the buttons to hear one of 241 affirming messages or see the three positive textual displays broadcast by the signal light.

40 West Arts District Attracts 2000+ People for March Art Walk 

40 West Arts District held its first of three Art Walks on First Friday, March 2nd. More than 2000 people enjoyed the galleries and spectacle throughout the district during the evening. "The Bad Asstronauts" returned with their magnificent dancing jellyfish performance to celebrate the opening of the annual Colfax-themed exhibition at 40W gallery. Mark your calendars to attend the next big Art Walk on First Friday, June 1st, in conjunction with the ArtLine launch party. See photos from March 2nd here.

The Calahan Construction Team Celebrates Open House

Calahan Construction moved their business to the West Colfax corridor a little over a year ago. They celebrated the new location on Wadsworth Blvd. with an open house on March 16th. Attendees enjoyed St. Patrick's Day themed-food and drink and could learn more about all services Calahan Construction provides. Calahan Construction is also the proud owner of the mural entitled "Reinvention" by Richard Marks, that stands proudly in front of the Calahan building. Sprout City Farms Set to Host Annual 'Sprout Down' on March 21st

The 8th annual  Sprout Down  is  Wednesday, March 21st from 5-8.30pm  at the Mercury Cafe. The family friendly event features live music, a silent auction, booze pull, small bites from several food partners, games, a cash bar, and more. Suggested donations are accepted online or at the door. Support our friends from Sprout City Farms as they gear up for the growing season! Sprout City Farms operates Mountair Park Farm and will hold a season kickoff there on June 9th.

Severe Weather Shelter Network has worked with the homeless along West Colfax and beyond. Enjoy a compelling film that gives perspective on the realities of life on the streets for many who are experiencing homelessness and the hope that exists through organizations like Severe Weather Shelter Network. WestFax Brewing Has Best Day of Business on 2nd Anniversary Weekend

Last weekend, WestFax Brewing Company celebrated its two-year anniversary of business along West Colfax and, according to Brian Haitz, the WestFax Marketing and Operations Manager, it was the brewery's best day yet! Beer drinkers enjoyed four new beer releases, including a new take on of one of the brewery's most popular beers, the Blootylicious Blueberry Wheat. For those who missed the event, there are a few of the "funky blooty" sour beers bottled still available from the weekend festivities.  See their current tap list.
