West Columbia Sanitation/Yard Trash COVID-19 Update
We hope that you and your families are staying healthy and well during these difficult times. Many citizens have taken advantage of the beautiful weather and extra time at home to beautify yards and clean up properties. We would love for you to take pictures of your yards, porches, balconies, or renovations and post them to social media using the hashtag #wecohomes.

With all of the beautification and cleanup, the volume of yard trash has increased. Along with the increase in volume, to keep our employees safe as possible and to continue services, we have split both the Sanitation Department and Parks Department into three groups. Our Parks Department, with the exception of a few employees, is working with the Sanitation Department to ensure essential services, household garbage and recycling, continue to be picked up on the modified Tuesday/Thursday schedule. They are also assisting with the pickup of yard trash.

We are currently mixing our recycling with household garbage. This was done in an attempt to reduce the number of different employees that would need to physically touch the roll carts and to decrease the number of employees needed to accommodate the modified schedules.

As a reminder, we are not picking up any loose household garbage or recycling. It must be put in the roll carts.

Yard trash: Due to it being Spring, nice weather, people at home with nowhere to go, etc. people are working in their yards, creating a high volume of yard trash. We are currently picking up yard trash six days a week. Although the postcard sent to each residence said that we would pick up yard trash on Fridays and Saturdays, the volume has made it where it is being picked up six days a week. Therefore, residents need to leave out the yard trash UNTIL IT IS PICKED UP.
