West Metro Chamber Weekly - September 8, 2020
Dear West Metro Chamber Members,

We hope you had a happy and safe Labor Day Weekend! As we begin September, there is a very important deadline coming up on September 30, 2020 – the U. S. Census.

Since the first census in 1790, the need for useful information about the United States' population and economy has become more and more important. Why is it so important? Because the once a decade census determines many things for the next 10 years – so we want to get it right. And, so far, Jefferson County has one of the top three response rates across the state at approximately 76% -- let’s go even higher!

The 2020 Census will provide a snapshot of our nation—who we are, where we live, and so much more.

The results of this count determine:
  • The number of seats each state has in the House of Representatives
  • Adjustments of drawing congressional and state legislative districts
  • Where new schools, clinics, roads and other services will be needed for families, children and seniors
  • How billions of dollars in federal funding will be allocated to 100 plus programs including Head Start, Medicaid, mental health grants and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

With record growth in Colorado over the last 10 years, it is imperative that everyone is counted in the 2020 Census. It’s easier than ever….just click here to find out how.
