West Ridge Elementary School

Principal Announcement

I am pleased to inform you that on Monday, June 16th, at a regular meeting of the Park Ridge Board of Education, Ms. Melissa Ballaera was appointed as the next Principal of West Ridge Elementary School.

Currently, Ms. Ballaera is working at East Brook and West Ridge as our Supervisor of Elementary Education. Prior to that position, she spent six years as a Reading Specialist and Literacy Coach in Park Ridge. She is a tireless academic leader who is well respected by the teachers in both schools. The outpouring of support from the West Ridge faculty at the BOE meeting last night was a strong indicator of how much the school community believes in her guidance and leadership. Needless to say, the Board was very impressed with her extensive background at the elementary level and the instructional leadership she will bring to West Ridge when she begins on July 1, 2025.

Lastly, I would be remiss if I did not thank Mr. Kirkby for his open communication, decision making and friendship during the last seven years. He will be missed by students, parents, faculty and his fellow administrators. I hope you will join me in wishing him well as he continues his journey in the River Vale School District.
