Dear Pastor/Friends,

It was great to see a number of you at Man Camp this past weekend at Camp Arrowhead . It was a great event! I want to thank Mens’ Ministry Coordinator, Pastor Dwayne Edwards and his crew (especially his wife, Debbie) who worked so hard to pull this great event together!

Fellowship and food was all awesome, but most importantly, we were able to see the Lord do many wonderful things in the lives of the men who were there.

Speaking of retreats, I had the privilege of being with several of our pastors (including two retired) on a beautiful motorcycle trip through the mountains of Arkansas last week. There is a special bond among Nazarene ministers. I am so grateful for all this truth has meant to me over the years.
Special thanks to our Korean pastors who threw a great birthday party for Susan this past month at the home of our Korean Ministry Coordinator, Pastor Paul Lee. The celebration included an indescribably delicious Korean feast and lots of birthday singing. What a wonderful evening!

Also, we enjoyed a great cross-cultural service with our African congregation in Cactus on September 26th as they welcomed a W&W team from our former church in Canton, Ohio. Pastor Kor Chakud preached a powerful message about answered prayer
Incidentally, congratulations to Pastor Chakud’s daughter, Nsheda, who was elected as homecoming queen at Dumas High School that Friday evening.

Congratulations are also in order for two of our pastors who had very successful church board reviews this past month. Pastor Jeff Marcoe has been at Amarillo First for 6 years now. He and Amy are very much loved and appreciated!
Pastor Gobran George, and his wife Gigi, have completed their second year at Hurst, Pursuit Church. He also received an excellent review. They recently completed a major remodeling project following “Stormagedden” last winter. Everything turned out wonderfully…including a beautiful new parking lot.
Pastor George periodically produces an evangelistic video in Arabic (with English subtitles,) which has now been viewed millions of times. He has received numerous positive responses from viewers (along with numerous threats) and about 10,000 questions about the Lord. Please pray for God’s anointing upon this outreach. You can view his most recent video by CLICKING HERE.
Pastors, it is so hard to believe that we are now 50% through our church year. It’s time to double check and make sure you are up to date on your district and denominational allocation “giving for others” gifts. Below you will find the latest updated report for all of our churches, which was prepared by finance officer, Dan Davisson, and bookkeeper, Griselda Sierra. Please take a moment to view your church’s status and make sure our numbers correspond with yours.

Finally, I want to remind you of the Pastor’s Forum coming up at SNU on October 18-19. Please see the information below to register. I am pleased to announce that SNU is offering significant scholarships for any of our bi-vocational pastors who would like to attend. Please email me for more information regarding this scholarship if you are interested.

For you and with you,

David Downs

Just a reminder that if you are bringing on staff (paid or unpaid), according to Manual paragraph 211.13, you must receive District Superintendent approval. Please reach out to the district office to request an associate application form that will need to be submitted to us once it is completed. Also, we will need a background check completed on the applicant. If you would prefer, the district office can run the background check but we will need you to submit the information and the cost of $16/applicant.

Blessings,

Hello West Texas Nazarenes,

Grace and peace to you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
Back in the middle of August I regretfully received the resignation of Sandra Porter as the WTEX Women’s ministry director. Sandra has been a great director for this important ministry for the past 8 years. Making the most of every resource available she has grown the WOW Retreat not only in attendance numbers but also in its spiritual impact. I personally have heard the testimonies of several women whose lives have been eternally changed through WOW ministries.

As much as I regret the resignation of Sandra I’ve learned that The Lord always has the right person for each chapter in the life of a ministry. Just as Sandra was the right person for the last 8 years I’m confident that the Lord has provided the right director for the next chapter in WTEX WOW Ministry.
I’m excited to announce that The Lord has drawn Leah Fort the pastor of our Wellington church to the leadership of our district women’s ministry. Leah is a gifted leader, creative minister and powerful speaker. The Lord is already birthing new directions of ministry through Leah for the women of West Texas!

Praise the Lord once again He has shown Himself faithful to provide us leadership. Even though I’m not allowed to go to the women’s ministry events I’m truly excited for what the Lord has in store for the women of West Texas.

Anticipating Great Things!
C. B. Glidden
West Texas SDMI Director.
