CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

Weeks of September 15 and September 22, 2025

Work will generally occur Monday through Friday during daytime hours (6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.), with intermittent nighttime work (6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.). Intermittent lane closures will take place along the project corridor, with at least one lane remaining open to traffic at all times.

At times, this work may be loud or cause minor increases in dust and vibration. Traffic delays are expected. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra time to reach their destinations or use alternate routes, if possible.

All construction is dynamic and the schedule is subject to change. Visit the project Google Map for the most up-to-date scheduled closures and available detour routes.

ONTARIO

Holt Boulevard Widening

Construction is moving forward along Holt Boulevard. To keep traffic moving while crews widen the roadway for future center-running bus lanes, travel lanes have been shifted to create safe work areas.

Currently, traffic is shifted to the north side of Holt between Corona Avenue and Grove Avenue, and to the south side between Grove Avenue and Central Avenue. Street parking is not available in these areas. Two lanes remain open in each direction, but lanes widths have been narrowed slightly, so drivers are encouraged to use caution when traveling through the area and follow construction signage.

Crews are actively working on several improvements along the corridor, including rebuilding sidewalks, driveways, and curbs, installing storm drains and utilities, and preparing for new streetlight and traffic signal foundations. These activities will continue over the next several weeks, with temporary impacts to driveways and pedestrian routes. Access to businesses and residences will be maintained.

We ask all travelers to remain alert when driving through construction zones. Pedestrian detours will be clearly marked for safety.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The West Valley Connector (WVC) project will be a 100% zero-emission Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, the first stage of the San Bernardino County zero-emission Bus Initiative and second BRT route in San Bernardino County.

Phase I of the project is 19 miles and will upgrade a portion of existing Route 61 which runs along Holt Boulevard, adding approximately 3.5 miles as center-running, dedicated bus-only lanes. There will be 21 stations in Phase I that will provide an improved transit connection to Ontario International Airport (ONT) and help build transit connectivity by linking ONT, two Metrolink lines (San Bernardino and Riverside) and multiple major activity centers along the route including Ontario Mills and Victoria Gardens. Headways will be 10 minutes in the peak commute period and 15 minutes off-peak, providing a high level of service to the community.
