North Hills School District

Pride • Tradition • Excellence

Dear West View families,

The PSSAs have concluded and our students worked so hard. I cannot be more proud of their effort and diligence they showed over the last two weeks!

It still hasn’t sunk in for me that we are in the final weeks of the school year. Our second grade students looked great as they were all dressed up for their trip to the symphony last week. Kindergarten had visits last week from West View police and EMS, and our funky Fridays continued as students dressed in fun ways for a good cause.

We as a staff would also like to thank the West View PTA for the amazing week of appreciating our teachers and staff. Monday they provided us with breakfast, Tuesday was a popcorn bar, Wednesday was lunch, Thursday was cookie day and Friday the PTA board delivered snacks to the teachers and staff. IT WAS AWESOME! Thank you!

As always if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to me.

Sincerely,

Mr. Simpson

Fifth Grade Track & Field Day 2023

Save the date! Our annual Fifth Grade Track and Field Day will be held on Tuesday, May 23 at Martorelli Stadium. (Rain date: Thursday, May 25.) Fifth graders from all four elementary schools will compete against each other in track and field events including the 50- and 100-yard dash, long jump, shot put, discus and more!

Students will be bussed to Martorelli after arriving at school that morning. Unless they are competing, students will be seated in the infield of the track. Water and snacks will be provided throughout the day and students will eat lunch at the stadium before being bussed back to their respective school for dismissal.

Spectators are welcome! Check out the schedule of events here. Please note that spectators are not permitted down around the track or in the infield and parents may also not take their student home from Martorelli. Thank you!

Are you moving this summer? Will your student no longer be enrolled in the North Hills School District? Please let us know by calling your student's school. When preparing for the upcoming school year, it’s very helpful to have the best possible estimate for the number of children who will be attending our schools in the fall. Thank you!

Registration is now open for the YMCA’s After School program for the 2023-24 school year. Held in all four of our elementary schools, the program begins when the school day ends until 6 p.m. Learn more and register at PittsburghYMCA.org.

West View Day

West View Day is May 19 at the Ross Community Center! This year we will have a silent disco and black light area for students to enjoy. All West View students are encouraged to wear a shirt that will glow in the dark under blacklight, i.e. white or neon colors.

West View HUB

Have you visited the West View HUB lately? Located just across from Isaly’s in the old PNC

Bank, the HUB is intended to be a one-stop shop with many resources. The HUB’s library features books, computers and internet access. Support services include a food pantry and counseling center, and there are enriching programs from art classes to tutoring for both youth and adults! The HUB seeks to give West View a place to enjoy themselves, enrich their lives, and find help when they need it. To join the HUB’s email list, complete this form or sign up at WestViewHub.org.

Also, save the date and join us for the HUB’s summer kickoff HUB Fest on June 7!
