Vegetation in the Roadway and Street Maintenance
West Vincent strives to maintain safe roads. Trees and shrubbery along the roadway must be maintained to allow safe passage and clear sight for pedestrians, school buses, bicyclists, emergency services, public and utility services, roadway maintenance, and our horses and their riders.
We always appreciate when our residents maintain their trees and shrubbery along the roadway. A minimum for safety, would be to maintain a clear area with no overgrown tress/shrubbery (or any other items), at least 4 feet off the edge of paving/gravel or curb back and keep trees to a height of 14 feet. Also, please do not allow your vegetation to block signage along the roadway.
Read about which roads will be overlaid and repaired in the coming weeks and months and how you can help clear any debris or overgrowth that would prevent or delay the repairs.

O-Fish-Ally Trout Season
With the Township’s acquisition of the property at 1925 French Creek Road last year, which expanded Wilson's Corner Park, public fishing is now permitted in the park. With the increased access for anglers on French Creek, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission stocked trout in French Creek for the very first time in early March.
West Vincent Township Police Officer Justin Fritz assisted Chester County Waterways Conservation Officer Bob Bonney with traffic control during the stocking. This stocking comes just in time for this year’s opening day of trout season on April 1 at 8:00 a.m. Read about additional park improvements.

Many In Attendance at the Historic Barns Presentation
On Thursday, March 30, the West Vincent Township Meeting Room was filled with 65 attendees who took part in a presentation and general lecture presented by Robert J. Wise, Jr., and Seth Hinshaw, both experts in historic preservation.
Did you know West Vincent is home to over 125 historic barns? Residents learned about these barns, their construction, and followed their evolution. Guests were able to view dozens of photos and pictures containing informative descriptions, and, at times, humorous commentary. Old tools from various time periods were also on display.
Read more about the presentation and the unique types of barns within our township.

Bring Your Bag - Neighboring Township's Single-Use Plastics Ordinance
On Thursday, March 16, 2023, Uwchlan Township’s new ordinance prohibiting single-use plastics went into effect; and, by Saturday, a Nextdoor correspondent posted a receipt online showing a $0.15 bag charge at Chick-fil-A in Lionville. The Nextdoor mail for the West Vincent area was inundated with complaints and threats to boycott the establishment, show up with dirty bags or receive their orders in their hands.
The ordinance, which prohibits the use of carry-out plastic bags, polystyrene food containers, and single-use plastic straws by commercial establishments was passed on September 12, 2022, giving merchants 6 months to comply. It requires a 15-cent fee for a recyclable bag as well as penalties for non-compliance by establishments. Read the article in its entirety, how this ordinance affects our township residents, and how you can participate in our township's sustainability conversation.
