COMMUNITY DAY HIGHLIGHTS

COMMUNITY DAY logo.png

The wet weather could not keep our friends and neighbors away from our Community Day held on May 14!

Over 500 guests enjoyed a variety of food, entertainment, activities, with 25 artists and artisans, 60 local exhibitors including libraries, environmental groups and energy companies, pet parade, and an exhibition of e-vehicles, e-bicycles and lawn care equipment.

Thank you to our sponsors for supporting our event and our township.

Didn't get a chance to attend? Check out our photo gallery on our website home page--you may find a familiar face or furry friend!

We love West Vincent!

COMMUNITY DAY HIGHLIGHTS

Historic Resources and Historical Commission : Cindy Clark

Our Historic Resources Committee (HRC) and Historical Commission had an opportunity to speak with several residents at Community Day about local history and about how owners of historical properties can learn more about their homes.

We are looking for more people to join the HRC and participate in discovering West Vincent’s past. All are welcome.

Our HRC webpage has been updated with maps, walking tours, and National History Register information to introduce more residents to West Vincent's historical impression and significance to Chester County.

Sustainability Committee and Clean Energy Transition Team: Kirk Reinbold

Our Energy Expo at Community Day was quite a success! Energy efficiency and clean energy vendors presented information on: PECO home energy audits,  PECO rebates, solar panel installers, energy efficiency and management consultants, ChesCo’s Smart Energy Initiative, planned net-zero carbon residential developments, electric bicycles, electric landscaping equipment, and electric vehicle advocates.

A dozen resident-owned electric vehicles were showcased; and,  we managed to give away fifteen home energy audits from PECO which have already been scheduled.

Student Volunteers Provide Helping Hands

Owen J. Roberts High School students and youth from the local chapter of Sewa International volunteered to serve food, set up exhibitor tables, and monitor our inflatable bouncy house and other activities.

Local Girl Scout Troop 4082 helped to hand out free Butterfly Milkweed plants at our Environmental Advisory Council table (and had some fun too)!

Pet Parade and Adoptions

Over a dozen furry friends and owners participated in our Pet Parade. Thank you The Bazil Group, Phoenix Animal Rescue, and Senator Katie Muth for sponsoring the parade and being our judges.

Phoenix Animal Rescue was also on site with some loving pups ready to be welcomed into their forever homes!
