HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMITTEE

Back in the Day in West Vincent - Lenape - Barb Quinter, Historic Resources Committee

The Lenape are earlier inhabitants of the Lenapehoking area which surrounds the Delaware River and its tributaries, places we now call eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and southern New York. Native American peoples have lived within this region for over 10,000 years. The Lenape are linguistically related to the Algonquin peoples of the northeast, and their ancestors are thought to have moved into the region hundreds of years ago or more.

Recycling Doesn't End at the Curb!

- Patti Lynn, Chester County Solid Waste Authority Recycling Resources Manager

You gave your food cans and bottles a good rinse, stored them in a container separate from your household trash, and tossed in your clean mixed paper. You placed the recycling cart at the curb on collection day. Congratulations, you’ve recycled! Or have you?

Well, not exactly. You’re doing the right thing, but it’s just the first step in the recycling process – the “set out.”...

The Country Fair has kids' games, rides, exhibitions, retail vendors and more!

Saturday, September 9, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Central Presbyterian Church in Downingtown.

Participants don't need to live in Downingtown; everyone is welcome!

Repair Cafe Downingtown is part of an international organization that organizes events where community members can bring items that need fixing (such as lamps, bikes, toys, clothing, etc.) and work with volunteers there to help repair the items.

There is no charge for this service. (With the exception of bike and lamp parts which can be purchased at our cost.)

The goal is to reduce waste and educate our community on how to repair things when they break. At our event in July, we had visitors from Chester Springs, Coatesville, Downingtown, Exton, Glen Mills, Glenmoore, Malvern, and Pottstown. We repaired a total of 23 items.
