Area Director Club Visits
To support clubs in achieving excellence, Area Directors visit the clubs in their Areas at least twice a year, with a first round of visits in the fall, and a second in the spring. As the liaison between the club and the District, Area Directors make themselves available during these visits to answer questions and offer clubs support.

Area Director Club visits are opportunities for the District, to support clubs and help improve club quality. The Area Director's Club Visit Report guides area directors in evaluating club quality by assessing the club on each of the Moments of Truth. Area Directors identify opportunities for improvement and specify the support that clubs need from the district, thereby helping clubs retain and build membership through positive member experiences. This important contribution on the part of Area Directors helps clubs grow and earn Distinguished recognition.

Our Program Quality Director, Debbie Allmon, recommends Club Presidents reach out to their Area Director to extend an invitation, and help schedule a visit. Extra Perspective
Volumes, Issues, and District History
A standard numbering system for periodical publications has been in use since at least the 1600's. Volume typically refers to the number of years the publication has been circulated, and issue refers to how many times that periodical has been published during that year.
Indications are the WestWord was first published in the 1970's and at least intermittently since then. A first year has not yet been identified, so we'll number the volumes based the year that our district was created.

District 33 was founded in 1973 by combining two existing districts: District 12 along the central coast and District 27 in the central valley. Since 1973-1974 was the District's first year, 2021-2022 is the 49th year. This is the second issuance, thus you are reading WestWord Volume 49, Issue 2.

Besides being tradition, this numbering system makes it easier to track, and catalog issues. It also tells a reader or researcher if they are missing an issue given any intermittency in publication.
Let's Build the WestWord!
